Polish agents ambushed the truck and stole one of the machines. They covered their tracks with fire. Alistair Denniston picked up the stolen unit in Warsaw's old Bristol Hotel in one of those awfully cliched two identical bags in a pile of luggage swaps you see in the B grade spy movies.
The actual machine closely resembled a US invention (patent 1,675,411) which was in the text of the original report on the machine in 1938(i think it was 38). If remember correctly the actual Enigma was based on a unit that had been built fifteen odd years before that patent was even registered. So it was 1939 and not 1941. the reason for the date disparity is that the British had to keep it under wraps until the Germans were sure that their codes were broken which they cottoned onto in 1941.

I made the best salary nearly EVERY WEEK out of all of the computer staff at every store I worked at. The reason i suspect I was fired is that i wouldn't tow the line and sell stuff to the customer that they didn't need(or was just unmitigated crap. Having previously worked as an analyst I always made sure that the customer got what they needed and not one of the hundred or so bargain boxes out the back that made the company much money.

I have found when required to do a 'wipe' that including the cost of a new hard drive (or other backup medium(or even keeping a copy myself for months)) works wonders for those 'OMG why did you wipe that file? YOU iDIOT' type moments. Because even if they claim to have backed up all their important data they never never never have.
Install the new hard drive(backup medium) make it invisible to the system and when the SHTF log in remotely, fix the problem, and profit.
I don't really profit very much at all as my new lifestyle doesn't have money as an important part of it. My payment comes from the joy on those little users faces (I install trojans and spy on them via webcam and surely that's enough payment for anyone?)
I have to agree there. The Linux channels on irc.freenode.net are a treasure trove of considerate people who bend over backwards to help anyone who is worth helping. By that, I mean the people that have tried to fix the problem themselves and don't ask really dumb questions(where's the any key) or in a demanding selfish way.
I had the opposite experience. I built my first computer based on a 2650 at a ridiculous age and loved computers for years. then I started to work with them and my love became tarnished. Now I live in the bush with a small hobby farm and my PC is again my true love.
Should we let them live a miserable life and even die in the name of small government and the right to be rich?
Most US consumers would think that the above is perfectly OK. I watched a video on youtube of a single mother with three children and two jobs who couldn't afford health insurance vehemently arguing against a national health system.
All I could think of was a quote I heard once that "No one is so hopelessly enslaved than someone who falsely believes that they are free" - that's a terrible paraphrasing of it and I have no idea who it comes from so corrections gladly accepted.
All of the ideas being pushed in the health care reform are leftist because nobody on the right is offering any positive ideas.
If the parody of a socialised health care system being proposed in the US is viewed as leftist then I shudder to think what a radical right wing agenda might look like.

Why don't people in the US look at a few other systems in place in the world and try and join the dots. They might then see that in these other socialist systems hard earned tax payers money doesn't just get pumped into the coffers of insurance companies that will give nothing in return but an even lower standard of service.
