I was browsing the net a couple of years ago and all of a sudden I got tons of pop up windows full of really vile images( i was running a pop up manager but they were obviously using some new-fangled method to deliver their product). After closing them all I then got the final pop up which was an ad for Evidence Eliminator (or some similar product) with the full spiel about how you can go to gaol for possession of images in your browser's cache and other really scary stuff. So when I hear about someone busted for CP claiming that a virus did it I may be suspicious about their excuse but as I have been on the receiving end I do not dismiss their claims outright as just another stupid excuse. If you are wondering how I made my HDD legal again. I smashed it to pieces that night (it was due to be upgraded anyway - evidence eliminated!)

then quite frankly that's YOUR problem. It shouldn't become the problem of a company that develops something specifically for a medium that REQUIRES you to be able to see. You don't like common sense yet? wait till it pushes the price of your game up and the quality of the build down. Some people will think I am being too harsh here but these sorts of things are being taken to ridiculous extremes. Maybe we need a version of pong that uses sound to indicate bat and ball positioning? That's just stupid. Can deaf people sue the makers of MP3 players because they can't appreciate the music? Maybe we could create an MP3 player that converts the bass to a rhythmic tap on the forehead. I am all for installing ramps for people in wheelchairs and signs in braille but let's have some sensible limits. Should fat people who go shopping in their electric scooters get special preferences? or should they just put down that piece of chocolate fscking cake and get a sense of perspective. All these minority special interest groups are going to end up screwing everything up for the majority sooner or later. I personally can't wait to get my copy of Guitar Hero Nose! What makes this post even sicker is the fact that somewhere I have probably committed a hate crime - the world is going fscking crazy.

You actually raise a very good point. I can just imagine little timmy trying to work out how to make the CD tray pop out and wow his friends. I wonder just how hard it would be to find a pre-rolled PDP-ll trojan on google?

It might have taken you a minute or two to fix! I can assure you that the average Linux newbie sent to KUbuntu from a Windows environment (after being told that it's the way to go) would take a lot longer than that to sort it out. That sort of 'showstopper bug' is the sort of thing that makes the tentative newbie go back to Windows and forget about Linux altogether. I have always recommended newbies to Mandriva and they have always been happy so that is what I will continue to do,.

Just get Mandriva 2010 it really is very professional and well polished. The help channels on IRC at irc.freenode.net are without doubt the most helpful place on the planet. And for that stuff you just have to have that only runs in windows there is a good chance it will run in virtualbox. I run 3d max pro 9 on virtualbox in seamless mode and it works absolutely beautifully. Linux really is getting up to that out of the box standard that a lot of people can just use it without having to stuff around. I have run 2010 since RC1 and now have the official release it truly is Mandriva's best release to date. I have also tried many distributions but I always came back to Mandrake/Mandriva because for me it has always just worked(and worked well). :) Before getting anything like Gentoo try a 'proper release' so as you have a chance to at least try using Linux before you have learnt to hate it.
