Actually there's a different US visa for people who own American stocks. The E-2 Investment Visa is for people who have significant US investments(usually more than US$100,000) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-2_visa
The visa is a non-immigrant visa valid for 1 year, renewable until the holder divests himself of the investments.
