    really, there's confusion on if discharging a weapon in city streets is a crime? This doesn't stop people from owning guns, just helps police respond faster to the scene of a crime (hint: the answer your question is that it is a crime). Your post is just FUD.

    That would only work on a really weak star. If you're far enough from the star that you aren't receiving enough solar energy, then you're too far for tidal effects.

    What is you speed compared to determine the time dilation you see? Say a solar system gets a gravitational boost from swinging around a black hole and is now traveling faster than another solar system that was traveling along with it. How would you know the time dilation between the two? Would it just be a relative comparison?

    Can't they just add an O2 tank with about an hour's worth of air in parallel to the current system? If it detects a drop in O2, it can start feeding the pilot O2 and he can drop to a lower alt.

    Had the height set to 60m. west coast of the US only loses a bit. Most of Florida is gone and maybe a few miles in on the eastern seaboard. I was thinking 60m would be like 30% of land lost.

    But there were times that Earth was a snowball, I would imagine it varied with the sun's cycles. It seems the system has positive feedback such that small changes can have large impacts. Examples: cooling that causes more snow covered surfaces, reflect more sun light and hot temperatures result it more water vapor int he air, increasing the temperature further. Then you have other events that came break you from these cycles (example large volcanic activity, asteroid impacts).

    With the impact material from the Earth would have been send into space too. You would have to take many samples from all over the moon and from boreholes before you could build confidence that there isn't any remains of the impactor.

    It's going to get better and cheaper so now is not the time for a 20yr commitment. Though if no one buys it then it might not improve.
