    Not if we take an approach like Google's nacl project, which allows you to run real native code safely in a browser.

    The key thing is keeping it safe, which Google has put a lot of thought and legwork into.

    That's completely incorrect, rules are effectively immediately after you add them.

    Linux doesn't require reboots for anything, even kernel upgrades with things like ksplice.

    After reading that, I'm glad I play on a platform that "just works".... PC. At least with PC there's a good chance you can tweak a few things and be playing.

    I still can't finish God of War 3 because it crashes halfway through on my PS3.

    orly? Since when do you get pointers, direct memory access, etc.

    I must have missed that part of writing shaders when I write them! Maybe you could bang out a tutorial!

    Usually your shader code is compiled into an intermediate format by the driver and then that is JIT'd and converted into something executable on the gpu. Even in the case of OpenGL ARB shaders, which look like assembly, those are just converted into yet another internal assembly language, are optimized and executed on the gpu.
