    In fact that's the whole point of open source.

    (FYI basically the entire Android platform has been open source so far)

    Yeah but you'd have to find someone at Oracle who knows how to use a web browser.

    You'd send them a URL and they'd spend 12 months and 10 million dollars writing a "program" in PL/SQL to access the wiki.

    Java is open source, GPL even, and has a patent covenant from Oracle not to sue for it's use.

    Microsoft fears Android (Linux) far more than permaniche apple products.

    Apple will never unleash mass market versions of their products, Linux has and will. That's Microsoft's territory and it scares the fuck out of them to be replaced as the default OS.

    It's already happening though, the Desktop market is their last stand... they've lost everywhere else.

    Blender is easy.

    3d art applications are just hard in general. There are tons of options, 3d is hard to grok for newbies.

    Newbies can easily get blender since it's open source and free, thus there are many newbies like you running going "OMG blender hard." As someone who cut his teeth on 3ds max, I found Blender hard for the first hour (adjustment period) and it was all downhill from there.

    It's going to support Google's nacl technology, which is specially compiled x86 code (and with pinnacle in the future, cross platform llvm bitcode).

    Even naive C++ is much, much, much faster than Python and is even capable of supporting multiple threads.

    It's much faster than C# and slightly faster than Java code as well.
