It's probably because the Chinese goverment wants to control the news as much as possible, thus more open and free news sites would be considered harmful as they could leak news that the government doesn't want to have leaked out.
It's funny how there's a whole Chinese Debian-based Linux OS and its use is encouraged when the Debian package repositories themselves contain plenty of news/media/proxy applications though...
One Button. At least ten times as much time wasted to find your letter, word, sentence, file, program, action... Simplifying into less buttons doesn't necessarily make a device more user-friendly or quick to use, rather, it can slow down usage because you could possibly miss the option you were looking for and have to go back for it, or it could plain be faster because it only requires one action: pressing the right key to get the right letter to appear.
This isn't the future of computers, this is a gadget that won't work.
Tell you what. If Canon (and other printer companies) and ATI actually supported the Linux OS a bit more, neither of those problems would exist. The only problem with Linux is its lack of support from big companies, and THAT is what leads to a lack of support for hardware (making your have to fiddle around to get things working), not the OS itself.

It is hard to "sell" (heh) something as free when you then have to ask them to get a $XX book because they are going to have on clue how to use it, it's not what they are used to, and it doesn't just work.:)
It's a tips book, so the buyer would usually already have some sort of clue on how to use it. Besides, Ubuntu itself comes with some short documentation on its basic usage and it's right there in the main menu.
His point is rather about general acceptance for something like this being "only for kids" or "for everyone", I think. Not mentioning the fact that plenty of great adult comics exist.
This is why you can't have USB-to-USB devices like you have Firewire-to-Firewire devices. It's why USB is very bad for time-sensitive data like music and video, because you're always waiting for the host controller to do something on the CPU, which might be busy..
So that's the main reason my USB-stored music stutters (underruns) when my (single core) CPU is really busy, for example?
Now let's talk about the obvious problem: at 5 Gbit/s, it's faster than the Ethernet in my house (1 Gbit/s). Am I the only one who didn't really notice a 10X speed improvement when moving from 100 Mbit Ethernet to gigabit Ethernet? Conventional hard drives are just too slow.
You'll definitely notice a difference if you use an USB3.0 hub to connect multiple external hard disks, I imagine.
You're completely forgetting that sexuality completely plays no role in the men stumbling over eachother in order to get to the ball. It's just a heavy-contact sport, like fighting sports can be too.
Let's see... It's convenient not having to reboot. Older apps will sometimes run (correctly) under Wine when they can't anymore under Windows. Sometimes, apps can actually run faster in Wine since Wine is a lot smaller and has barely any overhead, and anyone experienced can optimize part of the libraries that MS devs don't (of course, games usually run slower). Another advantage is not having to have Windows installed at all and still be able to play Windows games (big advantage on my 4G Eee PC, for example).
When, oh when will the majority of the Linux community grow up their inferiority and superiority (yes, contradictory, I know, but nothing but the truth) complexes?
That's asking for fanboys to grow up (well, that's the part of "the community" you're talking about anyway); it won't happen.
Baca indeed.
For logical reasons, I'd think? It conforms with all the other functions, after all.
It'll be arriving soon, assuming that Python 3.0 has enough bugs and problems to get there.
PC developers (read: Microsoft)
Strange, I always thought that Asus, Sony, HP etcetera were PC developers... MS is just a software developer, right?
He argues that youthful programmers don't know about error-catching
Funny, because that's almost the first thing I learnt after learning how to program at all.
I wonder how much time is wasted on people making up stories like these rather than them actually getting some work done...
What comes to mind for me is just how obsessed many people are with the
Google favicon.
So obsessed they'd even create a Slashdot article about it, apparently.

Um, isn't Atari still around? They're just not doing hardware anymore.

You must have read the Dutch book "We Always get our Sin Too"
By the way, I've seen a similar manga title in stores some time ago which targeted starting a successful career or something like that.

What he meant is that the extension devs are only linking to it, TPB naturally does more than that.
i BITE !
How brave of him to admit that.

Only if you mean your own. :P
Oh great. Just as I finished my first complete Python application. At least I made sure it's as compatible as possible with 3.0...
Anyway, 3.0 is great news! Can't wait to try it out.

Maybe, but both sides have marketing (commercial Linux distros and products) and both sides have arrogant nerds.
While we're at it, why not bring up the old math joke about money being the root of all evil?

I'm a Linux user, by the way.
How do you do it and stay safe? Fucking with Microsoft, I mean.
