It's a good thing that Microsoft is trying to secure its software in a manner that doesn't involve blocking the user of doing anything advanced on their PCs, at least. Let's hope that this harsh free competition will make the current commercial antivirus products a bit better, too.
I consider The Lord of The Rings a risky venture, seeing as it's a difficult-to-direct-and-film book series done by a person who only made B-type horror films before that. And yet, look how awesome the movies turned out in the end.
No, plenty of good games have been released, you just need to know where to look. And I get more good games from Indie developers than the big studios nowadays (except Telltale, they are AWESOME).
If they do it well, they could change/update the ODF spec when necessary to include whatever new feature and then have the new stuff QUICKLY supported through ALL the new tools/libs they made, right? That should be pretty awesome: applications using some of these tools or libs not losing compatibility.
Let's hope it's all going to be lightweight enough, I don't know how much you can trust Sun with that, considering OOo and Java are both pretty big beasts.
Hard to find one? We're getting flooded with Linux Eee PC models in the Netherlands right now... Where are they coming from if they sell out so quickly in other countries, I wonder...
Big icons, clear symbols and simple text ('web' instead of 'Firefox'). More aimed towards the technically illiterate/handicapped, as my dad can use this thing while he almost never uses computers (he also claims the interface looks a lot simpler and less cluttered than the mess of things you usually see on a computer).
It's strange, I can easily install language support through XUbuntu's settings manager... Is something strange going on here?
Oh wait, the distro that came with the Eee PC? That one completely sucks and should immediately be replaced by a better Linux distro as soon as you get it, anyway. These are problems in Xandros (= the distro), NOT in Linux.
It was probably marked as trolling because the information was false. Also, Gnome's VPN capabilities inside the new version of NetworkManager is quite easy to use.
It WORKS out of the box with the right distro, didn't you know? Anyone would have to get used to a new system, no matter if it does what you want or not out of the box.
Speaking of which, tons of Linux distros can do way more than Windows out of the box anyway, thanks to all the software it comes with.
You could set the priority of Firefox higher than apt's, that'd definitely help, but apt would take a little bit longer installing stuff because it gives priority to Firefox when that does something.
"For example you will not see developers porting the language to new systems. Only Microsoft can do that!"
Sorry, but have you never in your life heard of Mono? I have successfully written and compiled a Linux C# application with Mono. It's a workable language, though it really depends on tastes and purposes, NOT "how portable it is", because it IS if you write your application just right.

There has been a worldwide shortage of Brains for a long time now, pal.
"yeah" what?
Well, duh. You don't lack a sense of humor, right? :)
I guess Fiat never thought about how their Panda might be misinterpreted as "it's bread" in Japan...
you twitter.
Fixed that for ya.
Thanks, that works!

How do you use it if /dev/dsp doesn't exist? I don't have it with my integrated Intel sound chip for some reason.
Windows 3.12 for Cash Registers? Man, you don't want to believe it.
Thank the voters, not God. ;)
Step 1: make all folders in /home accessible to only the owner of the folders.
Now only one account can check other peoples' files: the administrator. Wow. See ya, privacy invasion.
If you want to be safe against the admin, add one of those encrypted hidden FSes to put your porn in and tadaa.
Seriously, do a bit of research before complaining about Teh Lunix.
I rename all my files to "hello.jpg".
Even multiple ones in the same folder?

Granted, it's a 701, but still...

For a CPU benchmark with Sunspider, barely. For the rest, I guess.
When it comes to encrypted chats, there's a very handy security plugin for Pidgin regarding that...
Under Linux I'd rather use Deluge.
