Userland, anyone? Point me to one serious section of OS X userland that is open source, or even shared source. Yes, they have contributions, but can not hold a candle to Red Hat, IBM, Sun Microsystems. Darwin is not all that exciting besides the driver model. Its performance is quite trashy, actually. Check out some benchmarks sometime. What you are implying is that a pen, a watch and a nice desk lamp are the best and biggest gifts ever. No. They are nice, but I'd take S.J.'s cock out of your mouth, if I were you.
That's a default setting. In about:config. With reason. Half the people with FF will turn them (autoupdate) off. Bad thing. If they know enough to get pissed off, they know enough to fix it themselves, like you. Get over it. I hate the default theme in XP too. And the GNOME default everybody (distros) keep pushing on me. I don't sit around and whine about it for no good reason.
Better idea - make an exception for copyleft FLOSS licensed software. Copyleft, to make sure everybody pays their fair share - in code. If FLOSS, then it is automatically for the good of all society, so it is something reasonable that a government can mandate.
Old Blackberry hasn't got the horsepower. New ones will have flash. Not enough install base, plus, Ubuntu put the PPC port on community support. Solaris can run linux apps on x86 anyway. If that MIPS CPU has enough brunt or sneaky instructions, you can run x86 apps on it with qemu. You say those are hacks, I say Apple doesn't even allow hacks.
Que Cocoatron ports to Android and windows mobile in 3... 2... 1... Dalvik is made to run Java type code, and ObjC and Java have near identical semantics...
Hey, Intel, please get away from mobile, and come here and kick Sony ass! Please, I know we don't like each other that much, but I respect your technology, just please save us... Above post is actually serious. I never thought...
I'd bring it up to the European Commission, they seem to not like foreign monopolies abusing their positions. May be temporarily link (in sig) to an online petition against Sony, bring it up with the FTC as well...
Releasing a sucky micro-turned-monolithic kernel with a BSD API ripped off from the company that made it? The only thing of any worth is the driver subsystem. It's well designed, but so are many others, and it doesn't have all that much leverage on widely available compatible hardware. OS X compatible devices aren't all that much easier to find than linux compatible ones. And that wouldn't solve the userland issues of any FLOSS *nix. So, yes, thanks for that pink underwear, I'll... give it to my girlfriend, if I ever have one.
Anybody else see Valve branded Ubuntu CDs with Steam in the base system in everyone's mail in the future? (They'll have one up on competitors if users are on a minority platform which they rule, at least initially)
Mac? Powerful graphics? Pass that joint around, please.
WTF? Xbox 360 is a tri-core PPC with DX and parts of the Win32 API. Hell, it isn't even NT based. How is that a PC?

IBM, Unisys, DEC, Compaq, Sun Microsystems...
Pyropterics? Raptor?
Step 3 - Install a IE theme.

Meh. Just add a JS wrapper for OpenCL and a codec specifier in the tag. That way the licensing ball is entirely in the hands of the website.
Hitler though 2+2=4. He also thought Jews should be killed.

Solution:a simple terminal tweak to make aliasing sudo impossible. For zsh, a second one as well - no aliasing /bin/sudo. Now you can't touch sudo.
Like, behind a gun?

The foreman should have turned on the conveyor, IMHO.

Lack of good enough SACD DRM? Inner platform issues when the platform is the cash cow?
Segmentation is smart. But was meant to be implemented by compilers.

Wouldn't it be more performant if you transform the PE/COFF executable to ELF, and rewrite syscalls to inlined winelib functions?

*facepalm*
more like seizures
Actually XP embedded offers ro-union mount type functionality with a special driver. Though it's not as easy as with linux.
