  1. The real solution on Scammers Target Neopets Users · · Score: 4, Insightful

The real solution is for the kids to have their own computer. And the adults do not use it for online banking, or anything else.

It's hard to believe the cost would be a problem, but if a netbook is too dear, old PCs are being given away. Put Linux on it, and it's their online playpen.

No need to argue about porn and whatnot. All of those concerns can be addressed depending as the age of the computer's owner varies.

You sound like you work in MS marketing. Not the only reason being that if you don't have a hard time learning then you should have been competent with the previous UI as well.

I do more now than I ever did because it is so much easier to use.

That's cute. Do you do soap commercials too?

The page hit rank for OpenSolaris on distrowatch.com is 24, ahead of OpenBSD at 53, NetBSD at 70, and a lot of linuxes.

I'd say Sun did good open sourceing it, making Gnome the primary UI, and working on desktop and laptop features.

I think it is superior to Linux in it's features and maturity, and only lags behind Linux in proprietary software such as Skype.

Hey! OpenSolaris is the new Linux, and Linux is the new Microsoft!

Kids this young should be helped to understand what a computer is in general, and how one interfaces with it. The networking aspect of sugar sounds expecially good for that.

New releases of windows are no longer about reliability like in the '90s, or helping people get more done (if that was ever true).

Businesses don't need a new windows. Office and the like run just fine on win2k and xp.

I can't imagine anyone buying new windows. The only purpose of new releases is to move new PCs off the shelves.

You just get it with your new PC whether you want it or not. The first time I turned on this two week old laptop, it had an install disk in it for a different OS.
