Soon all TV will do this, better idea is force the TV through a proxy that filters ads... Squid + Privoxy and man in the middle yourself so you can filter the https connections too.
Problem solved!
Their game store is for PC games. EPIC Games primarily makes Windows PC games. This has nothing to do with Fortnight on Android, Android or Google yet.
SIOCSIFADDR SIOCSIFFLAGS SIOCSIFFLAGS and Opening a socket for LPF requires root... unless you do this "sudo setcap CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE,CAP_NET_RAW=+ep" which no one does, because every upgrade they would have to reset the cap
So yes the client and the server have to run as root, you would think because they are reinventing the wheel here, they would fix this so it can be run be a user with minimal privileges, so even if a bug like this does happen, they are still limited to what they can do.
Agreed, bind's configuration is obtuse and does need fixing, so rather then rewriting a completely different client with the same set of bugs that have already been fixed, why not fork bind, fix the configuration so it's something more sane and then if people like it, they will use it, or ISC will pull the forks changes back into the main fork of bind, if you look at the problems that need to be solved, most of the time there is no need to a complete rewrite, You can see this is true for most things out there, despite this, people almost always try to reinvent the wheel anyways.
While no one writes perfect code, when rewriting code for no good reason either then wanting to, the code itself should have at least be as good as the previous implementation, and as it stands dhclient6 and isc-dhcp-server do not have this problem.
I don't have a problem with SystemD, I have a problem with anyone who tries to modernize some software but doesn't take into account of why things were written the way they were in the fist place... it's like the DNS resolve bugs... had the developers even bothered to look into bind's history, they would have never made the same mistakes... why take 1 step forward and all the steps back, just to rewrite software that has worked in the first place? This goes for any project, not just SystemD, not just Wayland or any of the "next-generation"projects... all reincarnations of software should take into the account of the previous implementations bugs, doing anything else is completely irresponsible and childish on the developers part, it sends a massage of "I can write better code then you" while in reality making all the mistakes the previous implementation made and more.
This whole "I am better then thou" s**t should end, it only makes people look like idiots
This is what happens when you reinvent everything you possible can, just 'cuz' but to put the icing on the cake, you run everything as root when you do it...
This is cute... first off $437 is more then enough to live on, if you don't live in a hyper inflated country (Russia actually pays it's debts), Second gays aren't killed in Russia by the state, read the Russian laws, it doesn't say anywhere at all gays must be killed, it says it no where... so a group of people might be doing it... hows the KKK doing? Oh wait we won't go there...
As far as I'm concerned, the cheap shots at Russia need to stop, we been on the look out for Russians since the 60's always with the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming, why doesn't the west be a grownup for once and stop blaming everything on everyone else? The West spends more money on war then on the walfare of its own citizens and for some reason when shit hits the fan, it's always the Russians.... seriously grow up, Starwars bombed because it was a shitty movie full of SJW bs, Hell even PETA got in on this movie. Here is a hint to all the clueless idiots out there... If you force your believes on everyone else their will be resistance, there always is, If I don't like something, do you really think I am going to pay money to see it? If I see something and I don't like it, do you really think I won't review it? You people need to open your eyes up and realize it's okay not to like something, its okay to disagree and have your own opinion. Stop attempting to ram SJW nonsense down everyones throat. Thats why people didn't like the movie, it wasn't because gravitys pull was the strongest that day, it wasn't the Russians, it wasn't the some magical event, the movie was shit, pure and simple.
Sure Google does, if we lock HTTP up Google gains a sizeable advantage. Anyone who is not part of the Google and friends can no longer inject ads into the page. While google can.
Yes, I would like guarantees that google itself can't alter any content it sees fit to.
This push is only so Google can control the ad space better, it gives them complete control over ads, as they can now see all of your HTTPS content, not just their own domain connections.
HTTP is fine for non-input web pages, you can argue until the cows come home about intercepting raw HTTP and altering it all you want, because corporations MITM HTTPS anyway, so it would just as easy to do the same thing.
Assuming the NSA is involved, I imagine they keys or permissions to keys, decryption would now be possible on a global scale, at least with self-signed certs this isn't possible unless they can obtain the keys.
I for one will not bend to Google demands, I will warn the users flat out that the Chrome browser is no longer supported on any of my pages that do not require input.
If you like M$ PowerShell and want to continue to use it on Linux.. great. YAT - Yet Another Tool.
If you don't like it/don't want to use it - then DON'T!
No one is making you use it.
No one is even saying that you have to install it.
If I was working as a sysadmin (either Linus or M$) I would think it great to have the same administrative scripting system on multiple platforms. If I was a Linux only shop - meh... no reason to learn something else as Bash is working just fine.
Having used both (BASH and PowerShell) - I can say that they are both tortuous, but in different ways. They are both powerful, but in different ways. And both are products of their times.
Ya kno, similar words were said about systemd... you don't have to use it... until you do... YAT is great don't get me wrong, but the moment some GUI dev requires PS it's no longer YAT... it will be forced down everyones throat.
Your post makes little sense, I work in a mostly Linux dev environment, and I can tell you, people don't care about the init system, they don't even know anything about it, they care about getting their work done, they don't even know what kernel they are running, let alone what init system they run, at the end of the day, a shell with ssh and a email client is all they care about.
Now since Ubuntu is mostly a "Bring the windows users to Linux" Distro I very much doubt that any Ubuntu user cares or even knows what SystemD is, which pretty much makes your analysis shot.
The people who hate SystemD (I am one of them) moved away, or were already on a distro that never used it to began with, that doesn't mean I haven't worked with it, I do all the time and wish the dumpster fire that is SystemD would die!
It is? Maybe you have configured gitlab wrong, but right now the entire VM it's setting on here is only 2.3GiB hardly 12GiB as you say. Oh and this is the stock Debian package. Have a different result? Then your distro is a dumpster file and you should git rid of it. (using your logic)
Windows doesn't work out of the box, work in IT and tell me how drivers from the manufacturer are out of the box? Linux doesn't have the luxury of having drivers made for it by third parties, the community has to make their own drivers. If all hardware works out of the box on windows then why do video cards and most hardware even come with drivers at all? The simple reason is while windows does have some drivers, it doesn't have them all.
Getting a driver is easy in Linux too, if you buy from non brain dead companies, if there aren't any drivers for it, then it's either not popular enough for someone to make one, or its a specialized piece of hardware that only works with special Windows software.
The Linux community is not toxic, we're just tired of people telling us that we should make there system work for them, because they don't want to take the time to learn something, If Linux and Windows were in a reversed position it would be the same with Windows, since you grew up with Windows, you are used of doing things the "Windows Way" if you grew up with Linux like some of us did, its easier for us to do things the "UNIX Way".
If you don't have the time to learn Linux then buy a RedHat license and have paid support. They get paid to help you, the community doesn't, while most of us are nice, we won't respond to fix it for me, we aren't your personal IT service desk. If you have a legit question and not a demand getting an answer is easy, Most people don't even think when they ask about something, when asking a question, you need to provide as much information as humanly possible about what is going on in you system, we aren't there, and this is where we start to get bitter, because you are asking a question and its translation to us is: Can you please fix that thing with that other thing and make it work that yet another thing..." If we don't know what your talking about, or the issue has been solved on the web already, why are you asking the question to begin with?
Easy way to get help in Linux without getting "Toxic" feedback is do the following:
1) State the question in a clear and obvious question, do not demand someone go fixing your shit, its not the way it works.
2) Provide as much information about the process, provide any logs that are relevant to the error/issue.
3) Be polite about it, if someone is helping you and its not exactly what you need (eg: You want something done a certain way) you don't lash out and for all crazy like a little shit stain. This person took the time to even bother with your issue, they didn't have to, but they did.
There is nothing toxic about the community, unless it starts in the form of the question being asked and how the question is being asked.
It already has beat Quake Live, Quake Live is Q3 without partial effects, including blood, rail gun effects, plasma effects... no thinks I enjoy Q3 the way it is, I see no reason for Quake Live.
It's easy to run a smoothly with no effects, (go into Q3 and take of dynamic lighting... on older cards it gave a +50% increase (voodoo 2,3 cards)
So please don't compare games that remove effects from games and and say abc runs smoother then xyz cause it doesn't, it's doing as much... with that logic Wolfenstien 3D should be your fav game then.
Oh please, cry me a river! I can speak fluently in 3 different languages, my native tongue is Russian, now I moved to Canada about 10 years ago, you cry because you had to learn English in an English speaking country... Do you have any idea of what you sound like? I came here not knowing a word of English and I didn't expect to find a job in Canada without English... Why should you expect any different? Get over it! If you love French so much move! You don't see me crying because I can't do my job is Russian or German... do you? like seriously, people like you need to grow up... ohhhh I can't do my job in ohh it's the end of the world.... seriously you sound like a fucktard!
There has been a way around this for years now, all one has to do is use a few free shell accounts that have a proxy between one or two boxes, now just make sure you sign up for shell accounts that are in country's that downloading via P2P is not a problem, using SSH with a 4096bit RSA + SHA-256 GnuPGP key between each box should take care of prying eyes. By the time they decrypt the packets the universe would have been through at least 18-23 life times.
It's people like you I can't wait to see what would happen if our society collapsed and you had to do everything on your own, honestly with a comment like this, I really can't see you surviving long at all, I hope you are not in a trade or anything involving real world problems because it's this mentality that is going to kill us, use it's nice to have simplicity but simple is not the best way to get the job done.
If you can be bothered to read documentation and or setup WINE yourself then indeed that is really sad you are that lazy, there are no magical tricks to WINE.
Oh and Windows also fails at device driver recognition, I want to install an old modem in Vista or Windows 7 that only has a driver made for Win 98, now what? (don't blame the manufacturer, Linux drivers seem to work through out the kernels, and Microsoft had a working driver model, if they would stop trying to redefine it maybe we wouldn't need to replace hardware with no driver support.
Windows Fan boys who make desktop solutions won't preconfigure SSH clients with PGP key signing... all your comments have an equal on windows, Oh and I can never run my Linux binary's under windows, yes I can use CGYWIN but it doesn't work with half the binary's out there. Let's see some more FUD we can make up....
Not everyone likes thoughtlessly, and again why does the Linux community care about the general public (I dont count ubuntu as linux) Since when has Slackware or Deb catered to the brainless?
