The funny thing is that if you have a stable business with stable income, you don't need to rely on venture capital and therefore would have much more clout when it comes time to whore your business to America via Nasdaq.
When you raise venture capital, you sell your business to pimps, who in turn whore it out to the world. Thats what VCs do. If they had a legitimate business model, they wouldn't need to rely on VCs nearly as much.
... as soon as my 401k, multi-million dollar homes, multiple ferraris and student loans are all paid off and I have some expendable income that I'd rather donate to the Linux movement rather than to my local soup kitchen...
The problem is the user is hands-down too stupid to learn anything new. They also are completely unwilling, and having to trouble shoot their FTP woes is not a direction I wish to move in since I'm trying to actually _SAVE_ time.
Once again, you have completely missed the point. If I wanted to have all my users install a download manager in order to download large files, I would have done that already. What I want is to have my users download a minimal executable which knows where to download the full install from and have the capability to stop/resume in the event of an interrupt.
A download manager is an application that generically provides this functionality for _any_ install. I do not want to coach each user on how to install a download manager in order to install my application. It simply gives me more work!
You do realize you completely missed the point of my posting, right? I am fully aware of the capabilities of FTP. The problem is that when you have end-users who do not use, nor never will use an FTP client, FTP is useless. What I need is a web installer that'll download large files via whatever "resume" capable protocol and install my application. It all needs to be as simple as clicking on the executable. FTP Clients do _NOT_ offer this.
But thanks for the condescending insight anyways...
The single feature that I wish I could get with my applications is the web-installer that Mozilla has for its install. It allows you to stop and resume a download and it would allow people with crappy dialups to download large files without having to restart after every disconnect.
If I could build an installer with mozilla that would let me do this with _any_ application, that would be golden!!
In all honesty, who gives a crap about whether it can be used as a coolant? There are already existing non-conductive liquid coolants on the market. The problem is that they're $X000/gallon, which is something most people cannot afford to invest in a heat sink!
It's not only about whether it could be a coolant, but whether it'd be affordable for anyone for personal use.
Personally the idea of using a chemical as a coolant doesn't put me at ease... especially when its something that you invite into your personal environment....
Judicial activism has nothing to do with unconstitutional laws. It has to do with a judge considering a law "wrong" or "harsh" even though it _IS_ Constitutional.
This is a perfect example of Massachusetts leaching nature on the union. They lobby the federal govt to provide them with billions of dollars to produce things like, a tunnel underneith the entire city, with their justification being the overwhelming traffic problem in downtown Boston.
Having lived and driven there for years, I can attest that there are dozens of cities with far greater traffic woes than Boston, NYC being the most obvious front runner.
The question is, who pays for the Desalination Plant? The answer is simple, its the same people who paid for the Big Dig, The Federal Govt. In other words, people in Iowa et. al. The federal govt posts billions to pay for it and has the state govt cover a negligible amount. Why? There are dozens of states with far more serious water shortages. Arizona, New Mexico, California to name a few, who would benefit greatly and would quite frankly flourish if given the necessary investment.
Massachusetts doesn't have a water problem. Massachusetts doesn't have a traffic problem. Massachusetts doesn't have to pay for their 10 mile tunnel traffic reliever.
The question is: Why do they need a license to go above 60,000 feet?
Getting to 60,000 feet they'd obviously need to deal with the FAA, which I think is so f'ing routine that its not even worth mentioning. Above 60,000 feet is of no concern to the FAA and they shouldn't be allowed to stick their grubby beaurocratic fingers into it.
Nope, I have not. Such is the way when MS Word corrects every goddamn mispelled word. But thank you for pointing it out to me! You're making me a better person!
There have been rumors for years that the NSA has ownage over PGP in a major way.
Either that certain keys are multiplied by a known number or that the combination of algorithms, as is such with PGP, weakens the security of the encryption.
On top of all of this, they have a super-duper-factory-sized super computer thats liquid cooled that can brute force it. But even then, they would have to be selective about which documents they brute force.
You have obviously never started or managed a business.
There is nothing corrupt about MS. You might think they're a pain in the ass (like I do), but MS is not corrupt.
Enron and WorldCom are corrupt companies. Possibly Texaco or Exxon/Mobil or whoever has been falsely reporting their oil reserve levels, thats corruption. Microsoft is not corrupt. They leverage their status in the industry to market themselves but that is no different from any other large corporation, nor is it "corrupt" by _any_ definition.
However true my posting may or may not be, it was merely an attempt at gaining mod points and had absolutely nothing to do with reality.
WHITE DEVIL!! YOU's the white devel!!
I wasn't speaking about Lindows, I was talking about IPO's and Venture Capital in general.

If there's an astronomy class, then there are people looking up.
The local In-House Astronomer at Univ of Dublin must love this thing...
Anyone happen to know how big these gyros are? I imagine they'd be pretty hefty if the station only has 3 of them....

I'm talking about in an end-user environment. wget and curl are not options. It needs to be a GUI with minimal or no options.

hey now, you're just silly.

Nothing, I remember seeing the plans for this thing in Boys Life magazine circa 1988...
My understanding is that anything above 60,000 ft the FAA doesn't care about (nor should they even be bothered with).
I wonder how much money they dished out for a license that they never needed in the first place...
Nope, I have not. Such is the way when MS Word corrects every goddamn mispelled word. But thank you for pointing it out to me! You're making me a better person!
This gives a whole new meaning to "Going Ape-Shit" in the work place.
Legitimizing Ape-Shit behavior between team managers definately does not provide a positive answer to the question: "Is this good for the Company?".
