  1. People like you... on Perfect score in Pac-Man · · Score: 1

... and their attitudes, are the reason I found out what Canada was all about. Spent the first part of my life thinking Canada was just a really nice place, just like America, only farther north and a little colder. With nice people just like here.

Then, I found out about the "No, I'm not an American," attitude... Any national pride I've seen exhibited by a Canadian is not so much concerned with being proud of anything Canada or Canadians have done, but simply degrading America and proudly stating, "At least I'm not American!" Anyone else notice this attitude? It really turned me off to Canada, which is a pity since that's where my fiancee lives (but not for long!)

ps. Regardless of the bad attitude towards American tourists, Banff, AB is a really nice place to visit, and I reccomend visiting it for the Sulphur Mountain Gondola to my US brethren! But don't let them find out you're one of those cursed Americans! hahahah... amazing.

Maybe you should move to Canada, though. You'd fit in pretty good there.

Amazing how people think its only Americans or French who are arrogant. Anyone remember Hitler and his Arians(sp)? Anyone remember "The Sun never sets on the British Empire, Brittannia (sp) rules the waves?"

How about Iraqi's? Russians? Albanians? Don't forget Canadians. The point is, every people on the earth think their nation (in general) is the best, and most all other national peoples are:

    arrogant
    make bad cars
don't have enough alcohol in their beer
    are lousy tourists
    should be molested on site

This... is why we still have racist jokes, wars, AND flame wars on anonymous sites such as this. Ta-ta!

(ps. This public service announcement has been brought to you by an ignorant, arrogant, intolerant, judgemental, bible-thumping, knuckle-dragging yank... oh wait that's a stereotype...)

Gee... AOL is going to shut down Mozilla. Imagine that. I knew they would... heck everybody should have known that.

My only problem is that I am a heavy ICQ user... Don't get me wrong, I like Mozilla, and have submitted bug reports-etc. but it is going rather slowly, and this guy is right, it isn't getting much support from the community. But, back to ICQ... is my beloved program next? They've already bloated it beyond degree (like 3x bigger in KB from pre-aol release to post-aol release), will they now charge for it?

Hmmmm... did we let the big lizard down? Is ICQ next?

  6. Give me a break on Elizabeth Dole Calls for Library Net Filtering · · Score: 1

Goodness its dangerous to encourage one's beliefs anymore, isn't it?

Oh wait, that's only if you're a moralist. Now, if you are gay, or a minority, then pushing your agenda and moral standards is peachy.

No, we as Christians should not be allowed to force morality upon anyone. That is true. You can't change someone's heart by legislation. The whole point of Christianity is that God changes people, people can't change people.

It's very popular and acceptable to flame anyone making a stand for their beliefs, as long as their beliefs are in line with the Religious Right or other "bible thumping mindless sheep" such as myself.

But in light of all of that, I think the porn industry should regulate itself. I don't know, create some kind of "we are the elite porn site, we regulate ourself" stamp of approval. A very far off dream, I know, especially for an industry whose favored way to attract new customers is similar to that of a drug dealer. (get it for free at first, get addicted, start to pay...)

But for all of the Pro-porn/anti-moral-lusers talk I've seen on here today... can you tell me one place that porn has ever helped someone? Did you ever hear someone say:

"You know, my life was in shambles, my wife was ready to leave me, my kids hated me... then I came across porn and my life has been so wonderful ever since!"

s/porn/Jesus Christ/ ...this you will hear. No, I'm not pushing a Bible into your lap, its something to think about. It's what this page is supposed to be about... different ideas and such, not making everyone conform to YOUR porn pushing ideals OR MY Christians ones.

Larry loves to slip in to his speeches and stuff references to what he believes. And whether you like Jesus Christ or not, you have to admit, the man is a man of integrity, and believes what he says he believes. Go big camel!

  11. Re:Amazing! -- It's a lie on Leo DiCaprio in next Star Wars? · · Score: 2

"A) George Lucas isn't *stupid*. He got where he was by making bright moves and not following the herd. Besides, people hire people like
Leo DiCap to try to generate publicity for their movie (STARRING xxxxx!!). Somehow, I think that Star Wars isn't really in need of generated publicity."

This is true, Lucas ISN'T stupid. He has to know who to go to to "Show him the money". Why is each movie in the trilogy in the top 10 grossing films of all time? Answer: Geeks.

Who buys all the toys? Geeks. Who watches each movie in the film 4-5 times just to get to catch the little flaws? Geeks. Who buys every little revision in VHS and DVD? Geeks.

So then, here's my take on why Lucas might use DiCaprio... he already has us. We are his "automatic customer base". Like someone said earlier, he could make the next film "Jar Jar's Revenge" and we'd still go see it. So he already has us. But, Lucas is a man like everybody else. He wants to see more green. What's the only film that grossed more than SW? Titanic.

Why did Titanic make mucho dinero? DiCaprio. Every little giggly teenaged girl who reads all of the Teeny-Bopper magazines got together with their girlfriends and went to see THAT movie at least 15 times... per weekend. They all wished they were that girl in the movie... whatever her name was.

So there you have it... by casting DiCaprio, the next SW may (in Lucas' mind) be the top grossing film of all time... but he would be forgetting one thing. He may lose his original "customer base"... geeks. Why? WE DESPISE LEONARDO DICAPRIO types, and all other iconized Hollywood manufactured actors. He is the epitome of the anti-geek.

Yes, George, you may gain a slew of new female SW converts by casting Leo in Anakin's role... but at the risk of losing your most faithful subjects... geeks. But then again... even WE couldn't propel SW to the money machine Titanic was... so maybe he won't mind losing us. Just my thoughts.

  12. A mournful Funeral on Hayes is Dead · · Score: 1

I always liked Hayes. I have an internal Hayes right now on my pc. But, other modem companies did what they did, and did it better. Now Hayes is dead.

Strangely, other OS companies can do what an industry leader (who shall remain nameless), and do it better, but that company still remains.

But I'm also thankful that Hayes didn't turn out like the implied OS leader, or all our modems would be 9600 baud, lose connection often, and cost $300 a pop.

    Isn't competition great (for us)?
