MS cares so much about version numbering, that Windows 7 is actually Windows 6.1....
That being said, I find the decision by Mozilla to be equally stupid. 4 versions in seven years, and suddenly we jump to a new version every month? It's just odd.
Over the years I've tried TF2 in Wine about a half a dozen times, and every time I immediately went back to the native client under Windows. The performance just isn't there, and even a few of the HUD elements are always messed up. In short, it looked like playing TF2 on an emulator, and that is pointless when I have a copy of Windows.
A bank will convert euros to dollars. I don't know of any bank I can convert from bitcoin to dollars, thus, to me it's worthless. No one would claim the Euro is worthless because it's backed by the European Union. What exactly backs bitcoin besides "Some guy" in an IRC channel?
Notice this isn't the FBI saying they are closing in. It's a group of narcs who claim this. Having their own little witch hunt. They better hope they have strong evidence against the people their accusing.
It's up to the proponents of bitcoin to convince the rest of the public that your currency has value. Until you can do that, it IS worthless. That is your lesson of the day. Good luck.
Well the most important point is that if you think bitcoin is a threat to world governments, you're living in a dreamworld, and your grip on sanity is weak at best. Don't try to live on bitcoins, you might starve to death.
It's not even for drug dealers! Drug dealers want MONEY for their drugs. This is only for the people at the top of the pyramid. You go somewhere trying to buy drugs with bitcoins and you're going to get stabbed.
The money I have in my wallet is backed by the U.S. government, and all other countries on the planet. Name one country that you can spend this "money" in.
Yeah because huge bloated defense programs, building weapons we don't need, really has a huge effect on counter-terrorism here at home. Meanwhile Bush was in office for 9 months, and his people were dismissing Richard Clark for "running around with his hair on fire" concerning Al Quaeda.
QT hasn't been orphaned.
Which is why you hang out at slashdot and post in articles about Linux, right?
How about you do what you want to do, and let others do what they want to do, troll?
Eve has a monthly fee. LOTRO does not.

In the time it took to type up that question, you could have just RTFA and figured it out for yourself.

All I can say is that I'm glad public libraries were set up before modern times, because today the concept would be shot down instantly.
Are the Slashdot editors pissed off because Tesla doesn't accept bitcoins for their cars?
That's pretty amazing... Holy crap.
Those are nice, but what about a music/video collection that has a couple of TB of data? Ampache is cool because you can access all of that anywhere.
I don't have bitcoins to throw in your tin can. Go get a job and earn real money, bum.

It's nice to see a story about money on /. that is about real money, and not Cyber-Cash.
You can pay for a website, run something like Ampache, and have better functionality, have it be cheaper, and have your privacy.

How much real money are you paying the Slashdot editors for the constant stream of stories about this worthless new "money"?

You're on an internet that was invented with government money. Get off now.
Oooooh the anger dollar. HUGE market!!
