Where in the verdict does it say that Microsoft has to support competitors ? Nowhere does it say that.
What the verdicts says is that Micrsofts does not have the right to force competitors out of the market by making it impossible to change media player - now thay have to publish the interface so the competorits have the change to make mediaplayers that work seamlessly with MS Windows and ship a Windows without it so OEM can ship another companies media player.

It's mucher harder today since one need to crack the security on soo many webbsites because of the distibuted development that is done in free and open software today on the Internet.
His example also shows that it only works if the same developer makes both the OS and the compiler.
Linux are not developed that way - however a large competetitor to Linux is....
Well, many of the countries in EU are part of NATO - so they can count on support by the others in that alliance when attacked - it will mean that US has to send troops to defend Europe to defend upon the attacker - i.e. US.
Actually they have been doing that for a while - and stopped some large corporations from merging and/or forcing them to sell of certain part of thier bussines so they not get a monpoly in certain markets.
Its probaly the only part of the EU byrocrazy that works well.
Should they not then be forced to also include alla other media players so that they do not five preference to just a few of the competitors - that would not be fair to Microsoft at all since there are alot of other players for many medias.
The only fair thing would be to force Microsoft to not bundle the player with the OS - and that is just what EU wants.
How about if the email program when getting a executable program and if the user tries to open it says:
"This is a suspected virus - it might erase your harddisk and force you to spend weeks reformatting and reinstalleing your computer - do you want me to throw it away ?"

.mail-servers.
All ISP then have to force all customers to send email through their own
This has nothing to do with real player.
It has to do with Microsoft - as usual - mishandling their dominant position in the market.
Well, many of the countries in EU are part of NATO - so they can count on support by the others in that alliance when attacked - it will mean that US has to send troops to defend Europe to defend upon the attacker - i.e. US.
