YACT - Yet Another Crackpot Theory. Nice try, but Stonehenge is surrounded by hundreds of burial mounds.
I can remember the exact moment I heard that, on those little portable tour guide devices. I didn't even notice them before, but as soon as I actually looked up and paid attention to all of those mounds scattered around everywhere, my mind was blown.
Well, I'd completely forgotten about the Linux Expo that was on this week...even the "I got a free ticket offered to me two months ago" bit.
Thank god Rob's reminded me...now I've got to find some way to convince myself to stay awake after finishing work at 7AM, and then drive from the Northern Beaches into into the city to visit the expo.
However, as far as I can ascertain from some of the previous postings, it doesn't sound too big || spectacular?
Anyone?
Are they selling any funky wearable propaganda?

Hi.
Bored @ work.
Might someone provideth an address from whence one couldst obtain a copy of thy aforementioned "Troops"...?
I had similar problems with Perl complaining every time it was run, saying it doesn't contain support for the language set...
The current set can be changed without reinstallation though, just edit/etc/sysconfig/i18n (or something similar) and change en_RN to en_US or whatever...
I'm not sure if this is what you were referring to, but Amstrad released a 386/Mega Drive machine a few years back...it was a decent spec box for the time; only problem was, due to the proprietary nature of the machine there was practically no upgrade options whatsoever...
This is the kind of down to earth article that we (the Linux community) really need to consider.
Sure, Linux on every desktop, Microsoft out the window, and Bill Gates living in a cardboard box would be a Good Thing(tm), but come on people...
The whole reason we like Linux is the fact that it's not simple. It's not pretty. To achieve Linux on every desktop would mean giving up everything about Linux that we love.
I don't know about you guys, but I prefer the Linux we have now, and M$ still in business, rather than no more Microshaft, and a crap, stupified, updated-once-a-year, no more home made solutions Linux.

Slashdot CD...$5.99 at your local newsagent...sounds good...
Of course, here in Australia, it'd be $17.95 thanks to import charges and other crap =/

Now that is a funky story...slightly dodgy that they took so long to agree though...*shrug*
Argh!
The website couldn't be any vaguer if it tried...!
Quake 3 should rock, if this vid is anything to go by...
/. isn't 100% development based...!?!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but
I've been frequenting this establishment for around 9 months now, and it seems to be "News for Nerds"...not "News for Developer Nerds"...?
My god.
It's hideous.
Could it really be possible for me and some friends to star as extras in Episodes 2 & 3...?
