'The majority generally do not pay attention, and also hate it when their view of the universe is threatened by facts.'
That is so good I'm going to steal it.
That's just the problem. Groundwater contamination isn't happening at an extent people are being impacted. The campaign of fear being orchestrated by organizations with the sole intention of raising money is much more damaging. Likewise the industry of global climate change, don't ask for the evidence god forbid just crack open your checkbook and attack anyone who dares point out it isn't getting warmer.
This Luddite backwardness is expensive to combat. It is a waste of this society's resources.
That you are unwilling or incapable of being about to distinguish between real threats and manufactured threats isn't a conspiracy so much as a sad epitaph to modern education.
Not trying to troll here because I got my karma above whale shit level but here we go. (ahum)
So the take away here is that these geologists at the University of Texas are ethical, even the appearance of impropriety is enough for them to step down.
But when professors funding research through climate change alarmism are caught red handed manipulating data at the University of East Anglia and Pennsylvania State University they just hang in there.
Even better their colleges come to the rescue and whitewash and cover-up to the applause of so many here at slashdot.
Isn't that just amazing?
Alas, a two party system does not a democracy make
Japan ~ 'Early in the occupation MacArthur saw the need to drastically change the Meiji Constitution. In his autobiography, MacArthur argued:
"We could not simply encourage the growth of democracy. We had to make sure that it grew. Under the old constitution, government flowed downward from the emperor, who held the supreme authority, to those to whom he had delegated power. It was a dictatorship to begin with, a hereditary one, and the people existed to serve it."

As for Germany ~ 'but most people date the end of the Weimar Republic to 1933, when Adolf Hitler took control and the constitution became effectively meaningless under his Third Reich.'

And I did forget to mention Canada, the fought England for the independence when exactly? Australia?
So there's this ugly realization that if you embrace the concept that all cultures are equal you must stand by and helplessly watch as little girls have their clitoris mutilated and homosexuals hung. It's like giving people democracy only to find out they want to elect people from the seventh century. Crap. Now what?
No, the best thing you can do for the environment is not 'reduce/eliminate the consumption of farm animals'. The best thing you can do for the environment is support representative democracies and capitalism.
Only representative democracies produce a body politic that can force a government to conserve the 'environment'. There are a lot of things I don't agree with in the way of environmental goals that others find imperative, and (like it or not for me) in a representative democracy these goals will likely move forward.
It is fashionable to condemn capitalism, but with capitalism comes disposable income and people give money to environmental causes they find important.
The 'cows are evil' thing is a left-wing extreme environmentalist vegetarian pipe dream that has been masquerading as a legitimate concern for the environment since the 1970s. People like hamburger and steak. So you're wasting your time. Oh, and the same suspects have been saying the Amazon was going to be destroyed for 30 years as well.
So think it over and try to understand how silly anyone sounds who says something as infantile as 'Fast food chains are shrinking the lungs of the world'.
Perhaps it's time to take a step back and a deep breath?

As the article says - 'The most depressing feature of this debate is that anyone who questions the alarmist, doomsday scenario will automatically be labelled a climate change ‘denier’, and accused of jeopardising the future of humanity.
So let’s be clear. Yes: global warming is real, and some of it at least has been caused by the CO2 emitted by fossil fuels. But the evidence is beginning to suggest that it may be happening much slower than the catastrophists have claimed – a conclusion with enormous policy implications.'
Super-conservationism? Oh, you mean like jobs and a balanced budget. You can forget those silly super-conservative things until Obama is put out to pasture and the nation is on its knees. Yes, seems like more people were more excited about free birth control and cheap 'obama phones' than electing a guy who actually knows how to create jobs. I see where the slashdot fairy gave you a two for you brilliant insight.
The website “Hello There, Racists!” appears to be 'outing' anyone who tweets or otherwise makes it clear they don't support Obama. The article states - 'Although its subjects clearly oppose Obama’s re-election, not all of them explicitly identify themselves as Republicans. Some also state specifically that they are not racist.' It's sort of an online House Committee on Un-American Activities for the internet.
See this is the bullshit. Why is this jackwad getting a 1 from some slashdot fairy for engaging in mindless partisan bomb throwing? What he wrote is approved group think so he (or she) get a pat on the head?
Obama is in charge. It's so strange, he really doesn't seem to know what is going on anytime or anywhere. But I agree, he has a wonderful smile and his pet wookie is neat as well.
The problem with complex government programs is that when they fail supporters always defend what happened by saying they needed more time & money. When a complex private enterprise program fails it's because there weren't enough customers. If it's the taxpayers picking up the tab you can bet nobody at the top is really all that concerned. The idea that the US government has been entrusted to manage the national healthcare system just, as Chris Mathews opined, sends a tingle up my leg. It's not a good tingle either.

History of these nations is available via the world wide web, feel free to investigate as I already have.
Hmmm. Perhaps you are correct, that may explain the disasters that are South Korea, Japan, Germany etc.
Perhaps you are mistaken? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_female_genital_mutilation_by_country Saudi-Arabia - Female genital mutilation is prevalent, but is declining
Here's an idea. Go fuck yourself.
I was hoping to implement a electronic tracking system on anyone from Saudi Arabia, guess it'll be over halfway finished here directly.

This is a insightful 5. There's even strategery.
Why would this leave Tallahassee inconsolable?

Just so long as you understand the Democrats will never sign on to this kind of legislation.

Sure it is, give credit where credit is due.

Good insight. I didn't pick up on that. Heretic.
Maybe now I should read the article.
