    We're talking averages not exceptions.
    And they can grade papers whenever (most teachers do not teach every period and class ends at 2:30) as well as put in for tax credit for unreimbursed job expenses. So your 'good' teachers can't apportion their time well or figure out the tax system, eh?
    They should be glad they don't have a job that is based on accountability or did not have legally mandated pay increases.

    Horsehockey. Not saying Windows isn't overpriced (although there is now a version for developing countries), teachers, at least in the US, are paid better than most white collar workers.

    He probably has 20 or 30 HD Camcorders lying around unused, and thought, hey - I can edit HD movies.

    Because you sure as shit can't do that on XP. I never knew video editing/DVD making was easy until I got a Mac. I still laugh at co-workers telling me about their day long experiences ripping a tape to DVD. I tell them I just push a button and they get all bittered up.

    It's easy to install and is extendable.
    No, it's not open source. But it's free as in it don't cost nothing (beyond the server license, that is.)

    But Palis could vote and own land. In fact, until Iraq the only place Arabs had ever been democratically elected in the Middle East was in Israel.

    The state doesn't help me earn my paycheck, but they tax that. And then I take whatever is left and I invest it, and they tax that. And if I do a lot of that saving, they tax me more.

    And yes, I violated Godwin's law. BFD. When I see so many poorly constructed arguments around politics and economics, I thank Jesus the US is a Republic and not a true democracy.

    Nobody is being force to buy iPods or use the iTunes store. When a government forces a company to change how it does business (which folks are free to ignore), regardless of whose behest they do it, it is totalitarianism.

    If you're lying to prospective investors about the future prospects of a company you own a part of, isn't that fraud?

    If you're an officer of the company. Also, trading in material information that has not been publicly disclosed is also illegal (insider trading.)

    How can you be more accountable for your organization's success?
    Companies are looking for folks who can get things done directly impacting their bottom line.
    If you're not doing that, you're just another programmer and if your salary gets too high, well, they can find someone cheaper to write the same crap.
