...what exactly they'd be willing to finance? For instance - if there wasn't a slashdot, and Rob proposed the idea, would they go for it? It definitely would "extend" the whole linux cause...
Does it have to be hard core technical stuff - or can it be media/advocacy? Or even a major content site that has little/no content on Linux - but is built using those tools, and expands on the existing tools... hence giving back to the Linux community in the process.
"The majority of programmers in the USA speak American-English. What fucking language do you think they should be programming in?"
Let's assume for a second that not all programmers are in the USA... Linus himself didn't start out there.
"Oh yeah, I forgot. Its totally in fashion to hate anyone from the US and dump all kinds of lame stereotypes on them while pretending to be "open minded.""
How can you manage to bash everyone outside of the USA, and in the same comment say that everyone else is not being open-minded? I can see why you posted as an Anonymous Coward...
Asked of Weird Al: Hey Al!!!!! What do u think about Napster? I just want to know if you approve.
Al Answers: I have very mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'm concerned that the rampant downloading of my copyright-protected material over the Internet is severely eating into my album sales and having a decidedly adverse effect on my career. On the other hand, I can get all the Metallica songs I want for FREE! WOW!!!!!
I'm trying to remember - the LSB are the "Good" guys that want everything open... and the LSA were the "Bad" guys that wanted to control everything and have everyone get licenses from them - right/wrong?
They own the equipment, they own the network, they even "own" your time at work. You can't say that you can't do your work because it might be monitored - so what, if you're doing work it doesn't matter.
What about personal stuff, right? Well, if you don't want it monitored... don't do it on their system. It's as simple as that.
I've got friends claiming that XML is the panacea for computing... for everything from e-commerce to a replacement for SAP to a standard for documents.
The only problem is that the applications have to be created to support the XML standard. So, unless you have a word processor that supports XML, and the people you're sending your documents to can read XML with their software ('cause you know MS will make an MSXML bastardisation...) you might still be out of luck.
Umm, not exactly what I meant, but funny none the less.
My point was that if someone could make the infrastructure for napster - then someone else could do it just as easily if napster were to go away. If it is popular, there's no killing it off.
The internet is international, and not subject to the laws of one country... Sure Napster might suffer, but the same thing could spring up tomorrow in Canada, France, China, whervere...
Cliche as it is, knowledge is power, and the true force behind the internet is knowledge.
Don't forget that yopy.org is a good site to check as well... they've done a lot in the way of investigation - and tend to link to anything yopy related.
Now that's just twisted...

However I have to admit that it is an ingenious "easter egg" for the game.
But truly, you would have to trust Maxis 100% with any bonus material they give you for the game... the next thing you know is that your nieghbours in the game open a crack house...
If I remember correctly the universe is supposedly saddle shaped... hence the curvature of the universe being a measurable thing...
What I've never understood is what is meant by that... does all the universe's matter (planets, stars, etc) fit into a saddle shape? If so, is there any particular reason why?
Run programs Alter system settings Allow your programs to communicate with each other (drag and drop, calling up a browser when you click on a URL)
A user interface should be:
Intuitive - no learning curve Be physically easy to use (single key-strokes and mouse use - you shouldn't have to let go of the mouse to use the keyboard for the basic UI) In obtrusive - in other words, it's not the end goal, it is a means to a goal.
...take the lazy man's way out and incorporate IE.
Acutally, from a "lab rat" friend that worked at RealNetworks, I understand that they are a real (pardon the pun) Linux shop... so it's understandable that they would go with Mozilla over IE...

Maybe the company has a sense of humour. Perhaps they won't try and patent it then.
Mind you, I doubt you could patent a "draft" of something...
Hmm, this could come back and bite them legally...
...and that's what probably makes it legal.

Of course, IANAL and your mileage may vary.
Are there any more?
The napster users that you are suing for listening to your music are your fans. Aren't you afraid that you are going to offend them?
I love the smell of free radicals in the morning... it smells like computing power!
Everyone and their brother would then /. the server so that they can have orbital tcp/ip traffic...
Not to mention the script kiddies wanting to "0w/\/" it...

Great fun if you live out the sticks and want to sell a lot of maps...
Nah, that won't work... I buy games.

MPAA: NY Times, your being sued for "hyperlinking" to a "hyperlink" collection of illegal hyperlinks!
Well, gee, if that can happen, wouldn't places like Yahoo, Google and many others be in a lot of hot water?
You can't stuff the genie back in the bottle.

That's not a bad point...
You'd like to be able to do more things - with less effort, right?
