Has always been it's real-time capabilities... In some processes (such as a backup monitoring system for a nuclear reactor) you need a predictable, and assurable interval for monitoring.
So when interrupt driven events just aren't good enough... QNX does the job admirably.
I'm reading this book right now...

...and it's an excellent referrence.
I'm teaching myself PHP and MySQL at the same time, and it covers both areas nicely (well, it covers PHP in regards to MySQL very nicely...)
It even walks you through a demo application of PHP/MySQL.
Just kidding, I thought I'd beat the trolls to it.
In any case, that does seem like a high price tag... by my calculations you could build a 1200 node cluster (using 8 node cubix boxes) for that kind of money...
Big business does do "targetted" direct marketting... why wouldn't they do it through e-mail as well? It only makes sense to the average marketting person.;)
That's a fine and dandy little law for you American folk to have to deal with... but what about us foreigners?
I suppose that if you had a.com.net or.org address they might have some jurisdiction (as those domains are managed from the USA)... but the worst they could do there is take away your domain name.
I have seen a game of nethack played on the side of a building using an LCD projector... I suppose that you could play many games like that, but the guy playing this one (at night, at a University) was actually getting advice by passers-by...
While there is a project to bring Real-time operations to Linux... it isn't in the run-of-the-mill distributions...
That is the predictability that QNX brings to the table.
I haven't had a /. submission accepted since September... only to see the same post come up a day or two later.
It's very frustrating...

Seriously though, perhaps the maintainer lost interest, and gradually forgot about it.
It's happened already to many sites on the internet...
Holy crap. I misread, I thought that said $1.5 Million... I must change my estimate to 10000 nodes (subtracting some just for basic infrastructure)...
My god, with that kind of power you could crack/render/spindle/mutilate anything in seconds.
Just kidding, I thought I'd beat the trolls to it.

Bill will get richer... (Actually, it seems no matter what happens Bill get's richer... perhaps they should break him up.)
We've heard various lines on how they would break up MS... but what's to stop the mini-MS companies from co-operating?

...the layman's version of this... What will this allow us to do, that we can't right now?
Great, you can read the electron state of my brain - in essence get a picture of what I'm thinking... but can you translate it into anything useful?
'cause I've seen pictures of Malda... and he ain't... ;)
...that Taco has a girlfriend. ;)

Canada... where the internet is unregulated...

1. What processor is in this puppy?
2. What kind of apps are we talking here? Do they have to be recompiled, or will it run x86 code?
3. X? or just console?
How can you say that when even now I'm sure that more than 90% of of the "modern world" has no inclination of what Cryptograhy is?
Sure, they want their banking information to be secure - but beyond that they don't have direct exposure to it on an everyday basis.
I like that they'll actually take money off the price if you don't want windows pre-installed!
...I'll just have to settle for a dual-celeron...
Their site says the were at Linux Expo Canada...
I was there, and didn't see them... did I miss something?
It's only free if your time has no value.
Even though there is no cost (and no real degree out of it) the value is immeasurably high.
Just my 2 Canadian cents (which works out to about 1.3333 US cents)
I'll tell you what - part of it was a typo... but I won't rely on that as an excuse. I will humbly thank you for your correction, and adopt it.
Thank you.
Probably not too many worth mentioning...
