No, that's AT&T running the half-rate audio codec to save their precious spectrum. T-Mobile is running the full-rate codec (badged as HD Voice) and if you have two people using HD Voice phones on T-Mobile, it sounds like they are in the same room.

One key thing you missed. The NWS 88-D Radar system *can* take a scan every minute at the expense of resolution and distancee. A "full" scan across the commonly used tilts takes *six* minutes. You can have a OC-3 to every radar site, but you're only going to get data ever six minutes most of the time.

Too bad it'll be SP 1 or 2 in 2004 that'll leave it usable and somewhat secure. I actually prefer 2000. The XP interface and how it handles some things really left me cold.

Wouldn't you get delays due to the friction of the copper? You could use fibre, but a switch or patch in the fibre would add latency/friction as well.

But the problem is the scrupulous use of the credit card information... And forgery of said information as it's only for "age verification". You can get into a pandora's box here with sites charging a few cents for stuff, or giving "free" access to that site, but nailing you for $29.99 a month for a different site in a very very deeply hidden clause of the "terms of service". It's yet another case of goverment trying to do the parents job.

Dunno, at least it's not the "we're saving the kids, so you have to fork over your credit card" scam that the U.S. Congress enabled.
