You think any cartoons these days are going to have the balls to have a toon Osama Bin Laden getting hit over the head with an anvil?

Actually, yes. Southpark episode 509, "Osama bin Laden has Farty Pants" features something just like this. I can't remeber if it was an anvil or not, but Cartman plays the role of Bugs Bunny, and Osama ends up with the all too familiar black face. You'll recognize several scenes from Loony Tunes, Cartman holding up signs with a picture of a screw and a ball, dressing in drag to lure Osama (which doesn't exactly work) :) A must see!

  15. Pearl Harbor Comparisons are pathetic on Our New Pearl Harbor · · Score: 1
Pearl Harbor differs in so many ways from what has happened today. First of all it was a MILITARY base, quite a bit different from a metropolitian area where civilians work. Secondly, it was obvious who was responsible. There were no governments harboring known terrorists lying to the media of how terrible they feel.

This isn't the result of technology. "Technology turning planes into weapons" ?? Come on, since there have been airplanes this could have happened.

I was extremely grateful to see slashdot doing an excellent job of reporting just the facts when most other news sites were unreachable. But now above it all, I have to see the opinion of someone obviously out of touch with humanity and reality.

Maybe if I were a stockholder I could have my thoughts above the real news. Until then, I'm happy being lost in the mix.

    ...through a series of links...

Ok, so here we have the Yahoo Violation. So let's shut them down to start with, after all they fall under the "series of links" criteria. I'm sure this would be the case for virtually all search engines out there.

But as I haven't had enough coffee yet, I'll leave it to you to investigate.

  25. It's Called Branding on Red Hat Is Not Linux (dot org) · · Score: 1
This isn't specific to the linux community. Examples of this pop up in all industries.

Have you ever heard anyone ask to use the "Xerox machine" even though the copying machine may be made by any number of companies?

Or "I'll have a coke" even though the menu clearly states "Pepsi Served Here".

How many people refer to tissues as tissues rather than "Kleenex"? The box may even say "Puffs", but people will still ask for a Kleenex.

Many more examples: Band-Aid, Formica, Jell-O, Krazy Glue, Q-Tips, Velcro...
These examples are borrowed from Jack Trout's excellent "Differentiate Or Die".

RedHat is doing a great job with branding. Eventually you may here someone ask the guy @ Fry's if this RedHat is any good while holding a SlackWare box...
