yeah, you can't convince people to sitch because its not any better than fb. its exactly the same, only with a stupider/smarter ui. so people go: why should i create an account on g+, when i can do everything it does and more on fb (where i already have an account). so, you're unable to convince people to switch because there is not a single good reason.
i don't understand how g+ is superior. fb loads faster, has a much better ui (better than all the fuckin whitespace in g+), has all the features of g+ and then some, and each and every person is on it. g+ offers NOTHING that fb does not already have. the video chat in fb performs better (maybe due to skype?), the chat and text message integration is awesome, location awareness of touch.facebook.com is amazing, fb apps are available for every cellphone (not just android and ifone), g+ circles is retarded. once again, how is g+ superior?

i switched to chrome because firefox was too slow. many of my friends did the same. but i guess performance is just a useless metric that nobody cares about anyway, right?
because firefox is fucking slow. takes ages to start up, ages to open addons page, jerky scrolling, huge cpu usage if you keep it open, piss poor new features (like tab groups) and because chrome is just plain better. even ie9 is better. its faster, no crashes (unlike ff), no jerk scrolling, and a nice clean ui like chrome.
i have adblock plus, flashblock, tab mix plus. ui gets ultra jerky and ff starts using up 100% of one of my 4 cores if i leave ~10 tabs open for about 12 hours or so. windows 7 pro. note that ff3.6 never had this problem. it stayed up without any problems for weeks and have 50 tabs open all the time.
nobody cares what firefox and mozilla guys think anymore. these are the fuckers who took the most awesome browser in existence and ruined it into something worse than ie.
what sony disaster?? the one where ps3s are now the best selling consoles? lets face it, 99.999999% people don't care about booting anything. booting is just something between them and facebook, or modern warfare.
you know what the real shame is?? that people started buying crap hw made by apple/samsung/lg just because of 'oohh...shiny!'. nokia's hw has always been atleast 6 months ahead of the curve (n900, n95, 6600, n91, many more). their phones had 3.5g when 3g networks were _just_ being set up. enter apple, with their overpriced devices and a huge load of shiny. nowadays, cheap android phones by lg/samsung have such crappy screens that my 5 year old nokia looks like it has amazing clarity.
i say it is. because it has the same fucking hardware as any of the hundreds of mediocre android tablets. now, galaxy tab is another matter, it has much more powerful hw that is not to be found in any other tablet. can you prove otherwise?
technically, the device itself CAN calculate anything you want it to. so, it is turing-complete. if i break my pcs keyboard, mouse, usb ports, cd drive, so that no new software can be loaded on it, it does not mean that the pc suddenly becomes turing-incomplete.
Because at the time, they were the 'only game in town', simple as that.
And we see how well that has worked out for them.
Companies that are not Apple need to realize that they need the developers and not the other way around. If you treat them like shit, they will jump ship as soon as a competitor comes out (instead of, say, developing for both platforms).

fb has seemingly every debian/windows/ubuntu/mac/etc developer there, admittedly not too talkative.
fb has every tech journalist / videoblogger / media type that I or anyone else watches.
fb has several small shop online retailers and several large online reatilers, and everyone in between whom I've purchased from on. Ladyada, etc.
