i don't think any new application of any technology should be dismissed as "This is a fantastic geeky little project. Please do not try to make it into something truely practical. It's a gimmick." it quite well maybe a very great new technique, you just can't see it yet.
yes. that's why oo and odf people need to start over. i see that the odf guys are working on the new version, but the oo people? they are just churning out crappier, bloatier, buggier, slower apps all the time, not bothering to pull their heads out of their asses.
After reading the headline here I instantly closed firefox, opened IE and did my updates (and for Office too). 5 were listed critical. There were a total of 9 updates and some of those were for hardware.
either you are lying or i am mad. you DON'T need ie for windows/microsoft update.
while looking at the summary from google reader, i saw a cos advert! it took me to their homepage. i must say though, their website looks quite polished and professional.
yeah, i don't download hidef movies off piratebay because i don't wan't to pay for them. i do it because i don't want to buy a blu ray player, i dont want to use vista, i don't want to sit through all the trailers and other crap, i don't want to carry around a bunch of discs, i don't want to waste an hour to go to the store. i want to WATCH the movie. if a legit online store would allow me to do this, i would pay. because i would be assured of quality, a thing which i don't get from piratebay.
i know gmail works quite well. but sometimes in firefox, when you click forward the thing gets stuck at 'loading rich text'. this happens at random and also on new ubuntu, opensuse installs. also, google calendar gets stuck sometimes on some firefox installs. seems to me the 'beta' tag is there for a reason.
but why does your font look like CODE?
oh no! he's already posting with this new accelero-board!

like china, maybe. together with north korea.
simple enough to be taught in the 11th class.
oh. i'm sorry. i was talking about office. wordpad supports only basic odt.
um...yes.
everything that is defined in the spec works perfectly.

me too! some bad karma for me too!
yes! completely agree. and my thoughts on odf in my sig:
supports as in "works perfectly, to the letter". as much as is defined in the spec. not things like equations which aren't.

Nobody gives a shit
true.
but i thought ie8 was an automatic update? shouldn't that have cured the ie6 disease?

i stopped thinking like that about 5 years ago. all my music and movies and games (except max payne) have been torrented from tpb.org.

i think wear-leveling logic is already able to take care of the issues you describe.
i think that windows 7 supporting trim will MAKE it final.
eh? what? oh, fuck you jobs!
