I recommend having a computer handle the back-end work of recording and separate devices that can accept network streams at each TV. As for a setup that allows this, I know Dvico makes many, including this http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/products/PVRM6640N.aspx for recording. I can't verify their reliability though, never used one.
Lala.com is the most frequent entry in the Google Audio search for searches I've done. If Apple can control Lala, they can largely control or hamper Google's competition against iTunes.
So Google owns a stake in Lala? First I've heard of it.
But I suppose you have to slam the black man, in case he slams your women, huh?
Typical, someone raises a question about what the government is doing, but because the president is black then anybody who questions him must be racist right? "You're a racist" is such an effective way to censor people these days.
I hope you recognize the irony of just how incredibly racist it is to call "racism" when nothing racist was even hinted at.
Mine, though I seriously doubt all the other major carriers aren't also doing this. Maybe I'll go back to using pre-paid phones plus Google voice to rule them all, Google versus the Feds, who do you trust less?
I'm glad something finally brought AT&T and Verizon together, I hate it when big corporations get in fights. Also, fuck you both for calling the U.S. innovators in wireless broadband, we are in the middle of the pack at best in broadband services.
California's electricity usage has remained nearly constant since about the 70s, while their population has increased, they must be doing something right.
iTunes will only sell you MP3s and all their video offerings are DRMed.
You don't know what you're talking about. Apple sells files in MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG-4, AAC and Apple Lossless formats. iTunes also sells DRMless downloads, "At the 2009 Macworld Conference & Expo, it was announced that the iTunes Music Store would be DRM-free, with conversion complete by April 2009."

Perhaps you should read your own link, iTunes can read, write and convert those formats; flac, the only lossless filetype that I care for is not sold by iTunes. I know their audio tracks are DRM free, I was referring to their video offerings, all of which have DRM.
There are many places to consume content, yes, but their terms aren't the ideal ones.
iTunes will only sell you MP3s and all their video offerings are DRMed.
Hulu will only keep shows for a certain amount of time and won't let you download them, I can do this now with a TV tuner and recording software, I fail to see why they don't offer downloadable episodes with ads.
Netflix is a rental service, I understand that and I subscribe to them happily, I wish the streams to the computer would be in HD but otherwise it is a flawless service.
I think the big problem for media companies is that their are so many options to get content, plus different things, such as videogames or books all compete for the same piece of entertainment pie, there's only so much to go around. Also sqrt(2) is totally right, if they want to really drive sales they should start lowering some of those prices and offer DRM free downloads.
I shell out almost 20K a year in medical insurance ($250 on my side, my company pays $1400). My medical costs don't come out of your taxes. I ride without a helmet (Illinois doesn't require it).
Do you have kids? Because I'm not a fan of my $5K/year property taxes with 70% of that going to our local school district, when I don't have kids.
Do you like living in an educated society or would you prefer that children whose parents can't afford school work in factories?
Dear Mr. Network Execubot, watching your ad is not the same thing as purchasing your product, in some cases if the ads are bad enough it drives people away from buying your good/service. Also please stop raising the decibel level when a commercial comes on, that is really annoying.
Or other network media tank? I love my IO-100 and it plays everything I have ever thrown at it. Low wattage, runs linux, excellent audio/video connectivity and is I think 300mhz mips.
Do you mean the A-100? If so don't they have an overheating problem that the pricier version resolves?
I've been looking into the best ways to stream the most content from my PC to my TV, currently I am using a 360, but it's limited codec support leaves me wanting. I have researched the popcorn hour, both devices, the media jukeboxes from dvico, now that these nettops are coming out I was wondering too what peoples' experiences was with a pre-built solution versus rolling your own.
Dell: They give you Windows reinstallation DVDs. You can do a clean Windows install from scratch. The only downside is that you have to install the drivers manually.
Do you need to indicate on your purchase that you want that DVDs or do they automatically include them? I was browsing through their site and saw no option on the random laptop I looked at for clean windows reinstall DVDs.
Simple they are hoping that the people who mostly rent movies are not the technically savvy type. I too was surprised when Redbox became popular, I figured that once you kept a movies for more than 11 days a month it made more sense to get Netflix, plus the streaming dear god recent TV show streaming is great. It has still found its niche market though and turned a profit. The studios are hoping that if they can cartel up they can wield more power over outfits like Hollywood Video, Redbox, Blockbuster and Netflix while simultaneously increasing DVD sales.

Asshole.
A study shows a greater chance of that than you might think. http://futurity.org/top-stories/bias-colors-opinion-on-obama-policies/
Essentially, the guy who made was offered $30m by Peter Jackson to do whatever he wanted after the Halo movie fell through.
How did Peter Jackson get that $30 million though? Successful LoTR movies.

Even on things like yard sales though? That doesn't seem right, I mean they're not a retailer, they're just exercising the right of first sale.
How does the use tax work for things like yard sales or local craigslist? Not trolling just wondering.
Private schools are a whole different ballgame, you are paying to be there, for a lot of minors the law is the only thing keeping them in school.
At my high school, detention meant you got to help clean the school. So yeah, they do it.
But what decade and region was this?
Yes, many slashdotters even wear underwear. Let's post articles about underwear, that should be relevant.
Only if they are about where the gnomes are hiding mine.
How would one find out if LIDAR has been proven accurate in my state (AZ)?
I don't believe the speed cameras that have gone up recently are LIDAR based, sad too cause I just got a ticket from one when I was going 63 mph.
There are much better examples, all on one handy page too! http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/personalities/glenn-beck/
I like beck. Perhaps you are too educated for your own good.
I hate this new trend of people who are too "intellectual"; like it is somehow bad for you! When did being smart in the U.S. become associated as a negative trait. Illustrated aptly here http://miscellanea.wellingtongrey.net/2008/10/05/elect-a-president-just-like-me/
Good to know, this plus Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands are all making compelling cases for me to finally build out a gaming PC.

I should have previously stated that Netflix integration is a huge plus, and any unit that could do that too would make it an immediate buy from me.

are you sure you know what thread you're posting in?
There's an app for that.
