When I got into the field, I loved and was deeply interested with computers. Now all I see are massive flaws.
Computers, for all their fanfare, aren't nearly as practical as they should be. I personally feel that this is equally to do with hardware as it is with software. Apple is trying - but aren't hitting the mark.
For me, computers will be fulfilling their potential when I can call for their help on demand and then have it get the blinky out of my way/life after I'm done.
I'll be happy when I can walk in to my kitchen with intent to cook dinner, call out for my computer, have a holographic image displayed on the nearest flat surface (preferably floating in front of me), get it to find me a recipe on a chicken casserole, highlight all the products in my fridge that I need and any other products that I'll need to purchase before I can continue and then display the recipe until I'm finished - at which point the screen disappears and I continue to enjoy my meal.
I think too much about computers. How does it go? "I can dream can't I?"
Well, I thought it was pretty simple. A true Christian by definition is a follower of Christ not just externally, but also internally.
A very basic example would be a priest who acts like a Christian, says and does all the right things - but in his heart he doesn't give a stuff - all he wants is access to little boys.
Again, thats a crude example, but you get the picture.
If you follow through the true definition of a Christian then you wouldn't say that all Catholics are Christians. You can't even say that all outward followers of 'Christianity' are Christians.
Semantics, I guess - but I thought it was worth clarifying.
You have a point. But it really does depend on the way the pointing gesture is most commonly used and also (importantly) what constitutes "you". For, if you were to conclude that your hand indeed was part of the form "you" then the saying would still be valid as three fingers are still pointing directly into the palm of your hand.
Even if it was widely accepted that your extremities were not part of the constitution of "you", there is still a large argument to be made for what constitutes accurate pointing. For, as has been evidenced in the past (see final scenes of Return of the Jedi where Darth Sidious (aka Palpatine) is zapping Luke) the finger does not necessarily need to be pointing in exactly the right area for the desired effect. This can also be evidenced in the popular way a reclusive black witch will point at objects and people.
I failed to put a smiley at the end of my post. I wasn't being confrontational. I actually enjoyed your comment. =) (apply smiley to comment for interpretative purposes)
With a sig like yours, I think the question applies more to yourself. As they say, when you point your finger at someone, you've got 3 other fingers pointing back at you.
I'm not sure when the last time you checked was - but Blender 2.5 is under heavy development at the moment - a revamped GUI is one of the major features. Also worth noting is that the GUI is written in Python and is detached from the backend Model-View style. It is highly customisable now - and the default looks and works well. You'd be happy to know that fully customizable keyboard shortcuts are also available - with presets.
The Durian team (CC movie by the Blender Institute) is a mix of the best Blender Artists working with the best Blender programmers - makes for startling progress and practical workflow.
Go have a look at a current Blender build from Graphicall.org - I think you'll be surprised. Let me know! =)
I'm surprised that with all the recent news of NASA being marginalized that they can still have competitions like this? Or have I just got the wrong impression of the state of NASA's future?
True graphics designers wouldn't be caught dead under Linux, it looks too "ugly" Especially the fonts.
Having worked with a number of companies that do just that, I find your comment obnoxious and ignorant. You're really saying that unless these people use Windows or Mac OSX, they're just pretending to be graphics designers? Arrogant, repulsive, ignorant and downright stupid.
Your analogy sucks. the suddenly popular PC manufacturer didn't include a clause saying you're not allowed to install Windows did they? Lets go a step further - the suddenly popular PC manufacturer didn't include a clause saying you're not even allowed to install Windows in a VM did they?

Get with teh times dude. Its Ubuntu Software Centre now.
You make the assumption that all other biological life-forms fall apart like ours.
Call IBM.
I see what you did there. Depends how long they cooked the chip for.

Like thats going to happen any time soon! They'll first need to build ships capable of travelling to Pandora before we can see a blue moon.
A girl is likely to slap you in the face if you ask to see her moon on the beach.
Oh...the moon.
Wow, you would really have to be blinded to not see through this.
Every other Apple product release in the past they have done exactly the same thing.
I'll eat my hat if the same PR isn't released during the next Apple product release.

May the gods of humour smile upon you. For you have delivered a most ironically funny post.
Blender would defy that statement, I'd think.

Each to his/her own I guess. I was never interested with Warcraft 3 on its own. DotA changed that though.
Thats like saying, "are you allowed to install Windows Vista on the iPhone" - what kind of a masochist would do that anyway?
Hmm, /. is my main source. You have a point.
Why won't a shark eat a lawyer?
Professional courtesy.

Haha, very true. My example was a bit extreme, I'll admit.
