  1. Re:Return on investment on Switching To Solar Power, One Year Later · · Score: 0

Doesn't sound to me like an obvious win for solar power

It is an obvious win, because you are failing to compound the savings.

He can invest the savings on electricity each year and substantially increase his ROR.

That is true if you assume that the initial investment can be separated from the return. But in a normal case, the savings each year will need to go directly to pay off the initial investment. If you are trying to find a generic solution for the masses, then this would be a more practical model.

It is a plus from the environmental point of view, but it sounds like the best case scenario is a tie from a financial point of view. In which case he probably would have been better off just investing the $38,000.

I would call it a good step forward for solar power, but not an obvious win.

If anyone cares to notice, we're all recalling the original Ghostbusters which was great. That's because the Ghostbusters II (which also had the original cast) SUCKED big time!.

For every "Wrath of Khan" we get a "The Final Frontier". Both had similar casts, but one had a great plot. If this new one has a great story line I think they can pull it off. If it is a feeble attempt at milking some money out of franchise it will probably fail.

I got my degree in EE and started to work immediately. After a year I started taking graduate classes, not for a degree, but they had some courses they were directed at my field that I thought would be interesting.

After I got halfway, I decided that I should go ahead and finish. And while it took many more years than if I were full time, most of my MS degree is directly relevant to what I do.

You could also save $500 per year if you quit paying for free stuff. Or did you mean "free, as in speech"...

  8. Waste of time and money on Mississippi Passes Law To Ban Traffic Light Cameras · · Score: 1

I have a friend at a large police force in a major city who hates these things. Every time a police car with it's lights on going to a call runs a red light the police department gets sent a ticket. You say no big deal just cancel it, but the Sergeant has to fill out paper work and justify every single violation. Do we really need to waste the Police's time, with something that is supposed to give them more time? These things are nothing but a scam and I hope this trend continues and they get rid of all of them.
