MSFT has spent billions on marketing the idea that Windows is better in the server room than Unix and Linux. For them to turn around and buy a tier-1 Unix vendor would completely undermine that position. Likewise, Solaris is one of the few commercial OSes that can beat windows in the server room on technical merit, name recognition, and PHB appeal; for that reason it would be VERY unlikely that any merger would be approved.

But still, even with all these options, a lot of guys who have male pattern baldness chose to go the natural route. Some do it because they can't afford any of the treatment options, some do it because they don't care about appearances, and some do it because they have enough self-confidence that they don't need to hide their baldness.

Whips and cages hanging from the ceiling? Sounds like my kind of place [NSFW]. Compared to my wife and our circle of friends, she does seem a bit... boring and unadventurous, if you prefer that phrasing. It all depends on your frame of reference, I guess; but I'd say someone who claims to have gotten physically ill at the sight of other people having sex is a bit on the prudish side.

What the hell's the point of being a sex symbol if you aren't actually willing to have freaky sex? It's like having a world-class sports car and never getting it out of first gear.

According to the court documents, Ms. Ryan claimed that her husband attempted to pressure her into having public sex with him in front of an audience.
He said, she said. You should take anything said in a messy divorce with a grain of salt, particularly if there are large sums of money at stake. Since she wound up getting $20 million out of the deal, and was angling for more, I think it's safe to say she had motive to... exaggerate the facts a bit.

Now, I don't doubt they went to the clubs in question. However, having been in that situation, I find it highly unlikely that anyone who did any even a modicum of research (as she claims he did) wouldn't have learned the basic etiquette[NSFW] that is expected in such venues.

Likewise, I have a hard time believing that a highly successful stockbroker -- someone who makes his living by being persuasive and a good negotiator -- could have been as tactless and inept as she describes. In tight quarters (like on a spaceship), someone armed with a knife actually stands a pretty good chance against someone with a gun. Police officers are trained not to let someone with a knife get within 21 feet of them, because within that radius it's pretty likely that the guy with the knife will cut them before they can draw their sidearm and get off an aimed shot.

In the Star Wars universe, the only reason the Jedi can get away with using lightsabers is because the Force gives them the ability to see a little bit into the future. This lets them block a shot before it's actually fired.

A square 1 acre lot is about 70 yards on a side. Assuming a regular grid layout with the houses centered in the lots, that gives you 8 houses (other than your own) within 150 yards. Even with fairly narrow rectangular lots (say 50x98) you'd only have to go down 3 houses on either side -- call it 20 houses in the worst case.

Personally, I hunt with a (replica) medieval crossbow. [Had a doctor's note for years before MD started allowing crossbows in regular bow season] While I think the crossbow is a little safer for a backyard hunt given it's flatter trajectory, I wouldn't have any safety qualms about using a regular bow under the same conditions. Know your target, and what's behind your target; if you're not 100% sure you can take the shot safely, don't take it. At backyard ranges (10-15 yards max) it's pretty hard to miss.
