These trolls are clever. They want to use Slashdot for their own purposes. Don't let them. Bury them into the basement.

But when these troll-accounts keep submitting identical ASCII-art hate-speech that needs to be modded down before it disappears from all of our screens (at work or at home) then it's time to take action. I don't want to have swastikas or GNAA pictures for my co-workers to see. Do you really want to become an NSFW site?

These sick people are playing you. They have a right to express themselves, but you, as a non-government entity, are not obliged to hand them a megaphone.

For the love of FSM, do something! Create a -2 or -3 Karma, or blacklist sources or (quasi-identical posts) as spam. Most of us, whatever our position, want to engage in a rational dialogue here. Those who don't should be modded down to a faint whisper, if that.

What happens 15 years down the road when the motherboard that controls the charging system blows a capacitor and Tesla says they aren't made anymore?
Will there be an aftermarket supply of major electronic components for old Teslas?

I don't see why not. Lots of other cars no longer being manufactured have after-market suppliers. For example, decades-old Volvos are still on the road, and IPDUSA supplies parts. I have a 90s-era Saab. New parts are available in most cases. Sometimes I have to get a remanufactured one. Finding mechanics who can service it has never been an issue.

You may have a point about electronics components being harder to supply than other components. But I think all manufacturers will face this issue as the auto industry moves to self-driving cars with lots of electronics. Also, I would think that retro-compatibilty of new parts to older models would not be arduous.

It's about signalling to the voters "this is what we'll be able to do if you put us in charge." It's not a new phenomenon.

The Republicans tried to repeal the ACA 54 times when Obama was in office. IIRC, only one of those times did a bill make it out of Congress and to Obama's desk, where he vetoed it. So I think it's "bill" in the singular.

Then they mysteriously burn down. Which means a showroom that was effectively a write off is now an insurance settlement.

This is obviously great news and not suspicious at all, so Tesla will be able to use the money to save its business and use it to fund more space missions for convertibles.

Any insurance settlement they get will be a drop in the bucket compared to the other business and financial challenges faced by Tesla.
