ELS is only available for RHEL3 and RHEL4 which would otherwise have only 7 years of support, and it covers only a limited number of packages. Read Red Hat's lifecycle page.
I mean in the sense that people have been predicting the rise of WinXP exploits after it ended support. And the April 2014 date comes from 2 years of mainstream support after Vista was released plus 5 years of extended support afterwards BTW.
Don't forget lack of IE11 too. At least they are willing to support these users for the full 10 years unlike Win8.0, and yes this distinction is artificial too.

Yea, read the end of https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/... and weep. And as it happens Google recently fired Vic Gundotra.
I like to mention this: http://arstechnica.com/civis/v...
At MS?
Eventually Norton AV began to take less resources and I think became easier to uninstall, but I am not sure about the detection rate.

That is a different problem.
with an option for 3 more years of extended support.
Read the fine point, the 3 more years do not include any updates.
I think they had much poorer support though.
It took a long time (ten years?) to get just a basic 32-bit protected mode operating system out to people at large after the hardware (80386) was out.
Ah, this is exactly one of the reasons why the MS OS/2 2.0 fiasco is one of my favorite topics!

I believe this is an error.
What is funny is that the current exploits do not target XP.
It is not that simple, but I do think Vic Gundotra needs to be fired for a while now.
Or at least comply with EU privacy laws.
I am for fixing the problems with Google+ (such as the real name policy) not killing it.

Seems like he left the CTIA in 2004. IMO, he should be at the bottom of the list, if at all.

Yea, I am thinking that FCPA should probably be repealed.
Personally I am more interested in suing OKCupid for starting the boycott to compel Mozilla to violate employment laws.
I have an entire wishlist for Satya here, and cleaning up the OOXML fiasco is one of them.:

I think it will get this too given that it is basically the server version of Win8.1.
