  1. Oh Great on Ex-NSA Analyst To Be Global Security Head At Apple · · Score: 3, Funny

We'll never jailbreak the iPhone 5. It'll either have government-grade digital locks, or it'll be accompanied by guys in black suits who "don't really exist".

  2. Updated TOS on Italian Consumer Watchdog Sues Microsoft Over 'Windows Tax' · · Score: 5, Informative

I recently bought a Sony VAIO laptop. I was somewhat surprised to see that Windows 7's license agreement now says "contact the manufacturer and find out their refund policy" rather than "contact the manufacturer for a refund". Not only that, underneath it was a separate agreement from Sony which said, in a nutshell, that it was all or nothing. Looks like somebody got tired of actually having to keep their promises to us nerds.

  3. Accidental? on Laser Incidents With Aircraft On the Rise · · Score: 3, Insightful

Green lasers are often used for stargazing, since you can use the visible beam to point out specific stars. I wonder how many of these incidents are accidental hits either by idiots^W people who don't know the difference between a plane and a shooting star or who are honestly pointing out constellations while a plane just happens to fly through? Don't attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity and all that.

Thank you that I at least have a job doing what I love, and as long as you sign my paycheck, I'll do whatever I am told to do.

In case it's not obvious, I'm of the young-and-idealistic type.

As far as programming goes, I've managed to teach myself the entire content of the courses I'm taking during my summer breaks and weekends. Admittedly, it is just basic stuff, but I now feel like I'm wasting $10k a year on schooling that I don't really need.

No one said anything about looking like us. "In his image" means being the highest form of life on this planet, possessing the power to both create and destroy on a level far beyond anything else we know of.
For that matter, nothing that I know of in the Bible precludes the existence of life elsewhere, man's arrogant interpretations of it do.

Seems a little below their level, unless it falls under public safety or crimes against humanity?
