The USA does not, has not, and likely never will have the 'leadership' position in space exploration.
This is carefully managed propaganda by the US government. The term 'won the space race' was redefined in the US to mean 'first man on the moon'. Ignoring, other milestones like 'first satellite in orbit', 'first man in space', 'first probe on the moon' etc
Now they are stuck with having to hitch-hike rides with the Russian's to get to the ISS, and getting the Eurpoean's to launch their satellites.
It amuses me how much the US public has bought into this cold war propaganda.
...get over it. It's the same in any industry. If you work in hospitality, you could be a bellhop, a cleaner or a hotel manager. The guy who comes to fix your laptop probably thinks you're an arse too. (I tend to think that about anyone who spells Windows with a 'z'). Also you probably have an over inflated opinion of your job (most people do). For example, all the 'IT Architects' I work with just see 'Code Monkey' jobs as roles to be shipped off to India.
Has anyone else had someone try to sell them these? Happened to me at one of the major hifi chains in Australia. Extra $50 gets you an audio optical cable with gold plated contacts. Highly recommened by the sales guy.
"Why would I need those?" says I.
"The gold plating gives you a better contact therefore better sound" the sales guy says.
"But it's an optical connection" says I.
"Oh yeah. Probably the cheaper ones are just as good then" says he.
Jabber has built in anti spam. In order for me to talk to you, I have to ask you if I can, and then you have to tell me that it's OK. This is part of the Jabber protocol itself.
This is very wrong but a common misconception. You are confusing presence subscriptions with messaging. You need to subscribe to someones *presence* but anyone can send you a message. For example a website may send you a message to say that someone replied to your thread on slashdot. Slashdot.org doesn't really care if you are online or not.
...of course on the *client* you are welcome to discard any messages from people who have not subscribed to your presence, but that's not a part of the Jabber protocol.
Looks like the owner of the site is redirecting a random range of IPs to cause a stir and generate more traffic to his site. That's my theory anyway. Here is a comment from the author of the redirect site:
Can someone how isn't behind some sort of national firewall mirror the link? Not because I want to see a fat lady, but having someone decide to block it for me kinda bugs me.
Dude! If are going to be going through a school zone with kiddies about (marked 40k's) at 45k's OVER THE LIMIT, (ie 85k's) then you well deserve to loose your licence for 12 months and cough up $451 bucks. I think you are getting off lightly.
"Zero tolerance" is a bit of an exeggeration surely. I've been past that camera at slightly over the speedlimit and never had a ticket. I thought they were set to monitor only the top 10% of speeders or something.
While you are complaining, did you notice that the FA said that the harbour tunnel toll cameras hadn't been working for 3 years?
Yes it is cool to be able to have it send a bar code as if you had typed it, but I want it to send it somewhere special - not to the default app. If I swipe a can of beans (or whatever) I want it to be automatically entered into my shopping list, or some such. Not into the word processor that I am currently writing a letter to mum in.
From memory the unmodded cat sent a Cntl-F12 or something at the beginning of the string which you could trap and start up the appropriate app.
Yes, it's a bit on the cheeky side, but get over it.
- Apple wasn't the first company to make an MP3 player - Apple wasn't the first company to make an MP3 player that did suffle - Apple wasn't the first company to make an MP3 player without a display - Apple wasn't the first company to make an MP3 player that plugged into a USB port - Apple wasn't the first company to make something shaped like a USB key/stick/dongle
No... a computer is all about running software. Everything else is just window dressing. Uneil Apple have a similar soft software base to Windows, it isn't going to even start to be a competitor.
Sorry rabid Mac fans - this is just a fact. I should know, I used to be an OS/2 user.
Sure, modchips can be used to boot Linux from your XBOX and other cool stuff, as playing imported games on your PS1, etc.
But let`s be honest. 99% of modded Xbox and PS1/2 serve a lone purpose : playing games without paying for them.
Honestly...I don't know why someone would waste their perfectly good modded xbox playing games (pirated or otherwise) when they could use it to run XBMC 99% of the time.
iGoogle has been my homepage/portal for years! And it included RSS feed widgets! It just needed a few tweaks to make it great. Good one Google.
It won't do any good, but sign here anyway.

Not true. In Australia (which was part of "the rest of the world" last time I checked) it is called Holden. (As in Holden Astra, Holden Vectra etc)

Doesn't work.
