I want a system like this that targets not just the spam mail, but the actual websites that are more often the not the way spammers actually make money.
So when I get spammed by some idiot advertising http://www.hot-spammer-teens.com, I can submit that URL, and (assuming enough people submit the same URL from unique IP addresses) others running the same system will get a popup message when they go to http://www.hot-spammer-teens.com, and they can vote their dislike of spam by putting their creditcard away and trying to find another pornsite.
This could also work for email addresses maybe, when the spammer is trying to get people to send creditcard numbers for some MAKEMONEYFAST! scheme.
This would have the advantage that you can also use it for spam that gets sent over ICQ too (which is where most of my spam comes from these days).
Can anyone tell me if they have solved the problem with some IBM gear (in particular IBM Thinkpads). The problem is that they don't get the mouse signals from most of the KVM switches I have tried, and I can't work out why. This means that you have to have a 2nd mouse, or use the trackpoint on the Thinkpad keyboard, which is a real pain.
The makers of my switch (ATEN) have this as one of their FAQ's on their site, but I have followed both of the recommendations and neither work.
I would really love some help here if anyone knows.
I am almost 100% happy with it. The only problem is that it seems to have some problems passing the mouse to IBM Thinkpads, and no OSD. Also the keyboard hotkeys (Shift-Alt-Control then number 1-4) is a little clumsy, and the tiny unit doesn't sit very well because it has cables coming out ever side.
Other than that I am very happy with it and would buy it again.
Oh, and I think to be "from New Zealand" you actually have to leave. I think you can safely say "He is a New Zealander" in this case (since he lives and works there).
He also did Frightners - which everyone seems to have forgotten about - it was filmed just outside Christchurch, and the computer graphics etc done in Auckland. (Yeah yeah, I know, it stared Michael J Fox, so therefore it was an "American" film - as are all English Language films I hear)
Spammers just set machines to sequence though sequential ICQ UIN's. It's way too easy for them. This is why Jabber choose user@host.domain for their user ID's.
You *don't* want this spamming happening with your phone/email/postal address/fax/IM/pager all at the same time - trust me.
I have several bits of audio gear that is "half rack size" (A Zoom FX unit, Roland Soundcanvas etc) - does anyone know if you can get racks to fit this stuff? I don't want to fill them out to full size just so I can mount them.
I was thinking of getting a wooden box made up so I could mount them on my desk, recessed at a slight angle. At least they would stop falling all over the place.
Does anyone have any better ideas?
Zilch.
There are only 9 *.id.au domains in existance, and they are all name of native animals etc.
I think this pretty much demonstrates that anyone cannot have one.
Sure, I don't debate that this is a great idea. I just think there should be a generic one like New Zealands.gen.nz for people running hobby websites etc.
You could never have slashdot.org.au for example.
Zilch.
...provided they limit it to sites in the USA.
The rest of the world is sick of subsidizing the USA's international bandwidth. It might also level the playing field for few of the smaller dot-coms.
It will never work of course, but they say it's the thought that counts.

Ironically, the video stores here also rent out software (playstation games etc - PC CDROM's sometimes)

Thanks, Zilch.
I have been happily using a 4 way ATEN KVM switch for years. When I was looking it was the only 4 way at a great prices that included all the cables.
I have the CS-14

Gee - I'm sure he will be so happy about that since he is a New Zealander and lives in New Zealand where he is making the film.

Sean? Is it possible to add this?
Thanks,

(I thought it was funny)
"The Giant Moa (elephant bird) went extinct in New Guinea..."
Umm...what are you on about?
Are you talking about the Moa - large flightless bird that was hunted to extinction in *New Zealand*? If so:
a) How can you confuse such different countries? and
b) Where did the "Elephant" bit come from??
If not, please post a link - sounds interesting!
Zilch
Shouldn't that be www.aunic.net.au ??
.oz.au either...)
(Doesn't seem to mention

Well thanks for clearing that up for me.

Please gop back and re-read the thread.

Also, I think the fact that there are only 9 of them speaks volumes.
