Whats bothers me most about this whole bag checking thing is that in big cities (like SF/NYC) these stores won't usually check your bag/backpack when you come in... so if you have no spine you are basically allowing them to search your bag everytime you go in one of these places. Fun.
If you have something you want to keep private, DON'T BRING IT IN THE FREAKING STORE. Duh.
No, it's no more racist than saying whites are more likely to belong to country clubs than African-Americans. Or that whites are more likely to go to medical school.
I will agree that whites are more likely to be racist than blacks, but that doesn't mean that blacks can't be racist, just as your statement does not mean that blacks cannot belong to country clubs or go to medical school.
The idea is simple: racism requires both inclination and power.
Racism in itself does not require any power. If you look at someone and say "I don't like them because they're black/asian/white/etc.", that's racism. However, most of the actions resulting from racism (such as segregation, slavery, etc.) require power. Racism in itself exists within the mind of the racist - even if they don't exercise any power, they can still be racist.
I'm talking about the majority of African-Americans in this country. They can not, by and large, afford a PS2.
I'm white, and I can't even afford one where I work (CompUSA), even with the employee discount. I really don't see how you're making this into a racial thing... I know for a fact that the first person in line at our store (at 5:00 on Wednesday afternoon) was not white.
Copyright is dead, and I think it's time we started to accept that and move on to new models, instead of trying to do rediculous things with the old one. Cut our losses and get out and find a better way of doing things.
It was a nice attempt at karma whoring, but the article is about PATENTS, not copyrights.
After that, I would move to the floor next to my desk, and the windowsill to my right, and the small closet-like area on my left, but then I'd be typing all day. And nobody cares anyway.
Heh... at the moment I'm doing the same thing. Only 4 of us on the network, but since the frickin cable modem just went out again, I'm on Erols for now.
Jeez, "only broadband choice is @Home"? I'd be happy to GET @Home... the only internet access I can get is from Mid-Atlantic Communications, it's a 500 Kb/s one-way cable modem for $50 a month... still have to use a phone line for the uplink...
And they were having "technical difficulties" from Sunday until Friday last week... I think "technical difficulties" means one of the techies (if they even have any, which is doubtful) spilled beer on the server, and they were all too drunk to fix it.
Comcast was supposed to start wiring our area in late 1999... they just bought our cable company, and they say they'll have all their lines run in a year or two.
Heh... reliable e-mail... they don't even give me e-mail... they have one DNS, which is usually down...
I can't get @Home, I can't get DSL, and I can't move out yet. In conclusion - you think your ISP is bad? Move out here for a week, and quit your whining.
I'd like to start a thread and have people list Sucsessful overclocking attempts, with Voltages and Jumper settings. If you've gotten it to work, share! I'm sure there are people out there that would love to know the real world results.
AMD K6-2 450 running at 458! Ha! I own you all!
heh... couldn't get the damn thing to start up with a 100MHz bus for some freaky reason, so I took it down to 83. This probably doesn't even count as overclocking, but, ah well, I'm posting it anyway.
If you think the system is unfair now, think of how it was for those who were drafted in some of our earlier wars in the U.S. They were old enough to go off and die for their country, however they were too young (under age 21) to vote for those who put them in harm's way to begin with. At least you can cast your vote in a couple of years rather than five years down the road.
I'm old enough to give the government a large chunk out of my paycheck, but I'm not old enough to vote. So apparently "no taxation without representation" no longer applies?
I realize that paying taxes is nowhere near as bad as going off to fight in a war; however, it's still a good reason to be able to vote.

Oh... you mean you wanted the lowest number?
Well, people say I have the freakiest keybindings they've ever seen... Here's what I have for Quake...
Left mouse - fire
Right mouse - walk forward
Middle mouse - zoom
Space - back up
A - jump
S - crouch
D - strafe left
F - strafe right
with various keys around that mapped to different weapons.

That statement almost sounds racist in itself - saying that whites can do something or be something, and blacks can't?
(Just for the record, I'm 1/16 black.)
Don't know why it reminded me of that, but it did.
Actually, I remember that being Dan Quayle... gonna go look that up...
Yep, it's Dan Quayle.
Repeat after me... Patent != Trademark != Copyright != Trade Secret...
You are getting sleepy... you are pulling out your wallet... we accept all major credit cards...

Isn't it supposed to be 5-7-5? This is 6-7-5... maybe "Special: Twenty bucks"? I dunno, I could be wrong.
