I love the overclock I've got on my 2600+ XP-M running at 12.5 * 200 with nothing but a nice heatsink and fan.
The Barton core is awesome, and AMD is just refining their game here, working with the same basic silicon for the A64 and the XP. Intel's brains are divided up among way too many incompatible irrelevent architectures.
I disabled SOME ads because it said you had to in order to see stories early, but I'm certainly seeing many ads anyway, is that a good thing or bad thing for/. considering I've never in my life so much as glanced/clicked or even as such considered one?
With my Pioneer 107D and Ritek G04 media, I can burn a 4.38 gig DVD-R in about 8:30.
So obviously the number of burners necessary is astronomical.
Anyone read the article in wired about the researcher just sending full PCs with OSes as data transfers? The things had huge raid fives, and he just shipped them UPS back and forth all over the country.
Isn't magnetic media denser than optical right now in terms of gigabyte per cubic meter? Even counting the physical space a cab full of 12 drives would take ?

I wrote an article about this on my website, AskaDick.com.
Dick's Holiday Gift Guide
The list includes such gems as Xbox+Modchip and GBASP+Flashcart.
More of a practical guide in my opinion than this one, with some humor thrown in. Check it out.
Until they are fighting ACTUAL wars by sitting on their ass playing what seems like a video game.
How many decades until we can get the hook up on that.
Apparently if you are looking for spare parts to keep them up and running, they weren't built to last.....
You just undermined your own point with the anecdote, so unless you were trying to be ironic, you suck at the internet.
1) 1999 - Buffer Overflow causes Half-Life to crash while I'm in an important clan match (counter-strike) we lose the match, and I lose many friends.
2) 2000 - Poorly coded garbage collection causes Word 97 to crash, lose last 2 hours of research paper. Class was in 30 minutes, paper was late. I lost my scholarship.
3) 2002 - IE Crashes while writing AWESOME first post for/., My karma never recovered.
Agreed. I gross right at 30k a year. Share a $600 a month apartment with 2 room-mates, and don't have a car payment. My car is a 1990 Chevy Caprice Classic, and even with a clean driving record i pay $110 a month for LIABILITY. Its insane.
Bullshit.
I have a discover gold card at 13% and a $4000 limit, did I mention I'm 20 and a fulltime student? I have kick ass credit for someone my age.
I love these calls, the moment "DNS serv..." comes out of their mouth I start spouting the dotted quads. I know at least 5 of our DNS IPs by heart, but only give out two on a regular basis. Whats truly sad though, is about 75% of the "I just need the DNS servers" people call back and ask me why their connection isn't working. BAH.
Leaving them with an old antiquated nearly extinct instruction set :P
The day I'm waiting for is when Intel finally admits defeat and releases an A64 compatible chip...
Though I dont think its going to be anytime soon.
Volcano 11+ and 1.775 VCore

Just my 2 cents.
First it was the web, then usenet, then everyones email, and now the sum of our written words as well.
My God, how long until it is sentient?
I personally welcome our google overlords.
(I use my Gmail account exclusively now, and my domain mail is blind forwarded to it, I just LOVE the interface).
An article in Spin said Avril's latest album, despite selling very well from day one, wasn't getting any radio play.
Obviously they figured a bunch of late-night spins would fix this... yea right.
8:26 for a full 4.38 gigs is nice.

The file is just over a meg, and I've got tons of extra bandwidth to burn, I think :)
http://biggestpos.com/pfs/ It took me so long to download the file I thought I'd put it on a faster server for you guys.
I can have 9 gig files on NTFS in Windows XP routinely. All the linuxs and BSD are easily capable of this as well.

I've been trying to get an article on slashdot for forever!
This looks like something I could use in my A7N8X, right? Because my discover card is just itching to buy me one of these......
1. Smaller Cables. 2. Hot Swappable :)
3. Small speed bump to 150
Thats all I can think of at the moment :/

Well, remember he didn't live in The City. He wanted to move there After Graduation. He probably lived in a burb, maybe in Jersey?
