Well, you have to admit, he's right about the linux for the desktop statement. If linux was the only OS available for the home PC, there wouldn't be nearly as many people using computers and the internet wouldn't be what it is. Frankly, the average joe is too dumb to use something like linux.
I think that if Linus made a machine which chopped off your dong, it would get an article here, and plenty of hype to go along with it. Sure, crusoe is kinda neat, but it wasn't all that slashdot made it out to be, there must be some news other than picture of a processor.
I think that ever since VA took over slashdot, the news has gone steadily downhill. Who cares about a movie review? If I wanted a movie review I would go somewhere else, I want news for nerds, stuff that matters, what happened?
I myself see less computer users using drugs and any other social group. I also think that the level of alchol use in the geek world is less then the population as a whole.

well, I think that we can see from the responces that all games should be ported to linux. The question now is: will anyone buy them? You linux guys seem to have a problem with paying for software.
What about the environmental waste this will create? One time use DVD's? This will create mountains of unbiodegradable DVD's. Then again, I guess this suits our throw away society.

how come I never hear about the security holes in linux systems? Wouldn't that be a more interesting topic to those of us who run linux?
