America is a nation boasting 5% of the earths population. A moddest number I agree, when compared with a nation like China or India, both of which sit on just under or over 20% respectively. When you also look at energy consumption of these 3 big nations, who comes out on top? The good ole U.S and A, using over 20% of the total energy consumption of the planet.
Americas oil dependancy is like a heroin habbit. It is so good, but you can never get the buzz the first hit gave you so you keep coming back for more and more. To the point where you cannot sustain your energy consumption. Now if you were to be producing anywhere from 50% plus of your oil then I would be at liberty to say, "well, the U.S.A might well be fucking up our climate by releasing greenhouse gases and other ozone depleting gases, but hey! They're doing the right thing and becoming less dependant on the Middle Eastern countries, whom they hate so much and wage war with constantly"
It is a shame some American nationalist will plot to assassinate him during his first term.
I would like to mention that jcr is a troll yet every post I see of his he receives a +5 insightful mod. This disturbs me greatly, is jcr modding his own psots on other accounts or do the mods love him like a catholic priest loves young altar boys?

In a post Obama world: The U.S.A cleans up its act and finally becomes a recognised trustworthy state.
Some of my fellow faith-mates do make the rest of us look pretty silly. But the non-religious folks apparently have a knee-jerk reaction that would make Dr. Dobson proud.
The Christian Child Fund refused the donation when they learnt the money was raised from epic tournaments of magic, vanquishing demons and ransacking forgotton dungeons full of prisoners and deformed beasts.
Seems to me the reaction is not "knee-jerk" but well within reason. Dissapproving of table top fantasy gaming is absurd. They should well realise they are a charity and money does not generate itself.

It is good to see a country standing up for itself and preventing a globalising multinational company (even google.com) from taking a well earned portion of their economy. Given the current state of all major economies, it only makes sense that the Russian GOVT is not prepared to let a major national advertisement franchise be taken up by the leaders in WWW. technologies.
