Emule does this automatically. Well, sort of. It verifies the parts of the file you download, and it if it's hosed, it tries from elsewhere. Not had one corrupt file off of the network in months. (Can't say the same for any other P2P software.)

Interesting timing. I was skimming an old "Game Pro" the other day and happened across the article about the DC version of HL being cancelled.

When a similarly completed game for the PSX was canned (Thrill Kill) it was leaked onto the net by pissed off developers.

Try Edonkey or Emule. It seems to have a pretty strong DC community.

Jesus this 2 minute posting rule sucks...

I'm a big B5 fan AND a Sliders fan. I admit, I got into B5 because of the fact the Amiga was used, but that wouldn't have kept me around for the entire 5 seasons. I loved the story.

As for Sliders, awesome concept, totally fucked up by Fox when they went with their "movie of the week" mentality... Oh, here we are on planet of the dinosaurs, and OH, here we are... etc... Thanks Fox...

SG1 has aired one good episode.

As for the Amiga sucking compared to the ST... LOL! Yeah, whatever you say mate:) What color is the sky in your world?

Wonder how many downloads Kazaa Lite has?

Kazaa is good in it's place. Recently I was trying to grab something on emule. It was stalled for days. Jumped onto Kazaa, and it was done in under 10 minutes.

Kazaa is good for episodes of recent shows. The late lamented Firefly, you can find them ALL on there, something which I haven't seen on any other service.

IRC is great if you're a "0-dAy w4rez d00d", but you have to deal with idiots running fservs with corrupted files, or fservs that boot you etc... IRC is too frustrating and has to be babysat a lot of the time (unless you find a really reliable server.)

Wonder how many times the RIAA downloaded Kazaa so they could say "look, it has SO many downloads" when in reality, about 3 people downloaded it:)

The fact I like this idea has nothing to do with being a fan of Linux. It has everything to do with the fact that it shows the manufacturer supports CHOICE rather than locking you into an OS.

Thrill Kill can be found on certain P2P networks. For those that don't know the history, the game was completed and ready to ship, then EA bought Virgin, and nuked the title saying it was too violent. Disgruntled developers leaked it onto the net. The sad thing is, it's no worse than Mortal Kombat.

I think the engine was also used for the X-Men Mutant Academy games. TK was certainly inventive, and the engine is very good.

Well worth checking out (PSX BTW.)

MGS 3, sure, I'll be there. I LOVE Metal Gear. Don't get me wrong, the original is a classic, as is SOL.

Instead of wasting time and resources on remaking an existing title, especially when there's a better one out there (the sequel), make a new damn game.

MGS 2: Substance is actually very good. The full Sons of Liberty game, PLUS a whole pile of extra missions, not to mention a ton of VR missions. Awesome stuff. (And the soundtrack is fantastic.)

And then they announce this, a remake of the original from the PSX. Am I the only one intensely disappointed with this? I mean Substance is a good idea, take the original and add tons and tons of stuff on top. Marvellous, but to remake the original? That's just lame.

hehehe As soon as I read the article I thought of that.

The thing that really pisses me off with this is it's yet another disposable consumable. AKA more waste for the friggin' landfills. I mean what, exactly, is wrong with the current DVD format? I can understand the use of these for, say, screeners for video stores, and awards consideration etc... but again, this is yet another ridiculous idea to rank next to the disposable cellphone.

Resources on this planet are not unlimited, and we're always being told to conserve and the like, and then a company comes along with a disposable format of a product that a lot of people already have.

Question: What happens if you're watching the disk at the moment 48 hours is up? Does it slowly corrode? Just die? Can the process be stopped with, for example, freezing? Or being vacuum sealed in a bag?

Another question: If this moronic idea is being adopted, how long before a "mistake" is made at the pressing plant, and the $40 boxed set you just shelled out on dies two days after you open it?
