Can't tell you how many times my coworkers, who have limited data but know I have unlimited data, have asked me while we're out and about if I could google something, or ask me to turn on my wifi hotspot.
Maybe you should learn how to use a computer before posting? You see that little downward arrow thingy on the google site? That's called a Drop Down List. When you click the arrow, a list of options is presented. There is also a default option. In googles case the Default option is "3G, $30". But if you click that little arrow, you can pick other options! Amazing! And if you read the terms of the deal you will find they charge $1/100M of data. Being able to read is a huge win in modern society, I suggest you look into it.
Can you read this:
If you use no data, your bill is $20 for that month, and that month only.
If your use 400M of data, your bill is $24 for that month, and that month only.
If you use 1G of data, your bill is $30 or less for that month, and that month only.
If you use 2G of data, your bill is $40 or less for that month, and that month only.
If you use 3G of data, your bill is $50 or less for that month, and that month only.
this pattern continues indefinitely.
Only if you used between 2.9 and 3.09G of data would your bill be $50, and that would only be for that month.
The plan is $20 month, plus $10 per gig of data. Not sure where or how you got $50 out of that.
If you regularly used more than 3G/month three are better 'bulk' plans available. But if you have busy and low months and need to scale to 3G occasionally this works out.
To quote:
"Our plan starts with the Fi Basics for $20 per month. This includes:
Unlimited domestic talk and text
Unlimited international texts
Low-cost international calls
Wi-Fi tethering
Coverage in 120+ countries
Then it's $10 per GB for data. $10 for 1GB, $20 for 2GB, $30 for 3GB and so on. That's it. With no annual contract required."
You COULD spend $50 if you use 3G of data every month. But you don't HAVE to spend $50. It's $20.
"Why should Google be allowed to tie the search provider for the phone to the app store provider for the phone? That's the kind of thing Microsoft got shat on for."
Because Google is an independent business competing in a fiercely competitive market? And that gives them the right to bundle their product line anyway they want? Microsoft was a declared monopoly competing against no one in the desktop market - and actively attempting to prevent anyone from competing with them w.r.t to browser.
American analogy: why does McDonalds force me to use their french fries in a combo deal? They should be required to offer Burger King's fries, or cook the ones I bring form home for me! Where do I file my complaint?
Throwing more technology on the pile won't help without a lot of user education, and if you had that you would not need the technology anyway...
1) Create a rational naming convention and use that.
Or
2) use Sharepoint's (base version is free beer) built in versioning system. That is what it is designed for and is one of the few things that SP does well.
I realize it's a great/. tradition to completely ignore the original question and try to dance around it with alternatives, but just ignoring it is not an option.
For example don't user the remote control that came with it, because it has dedicated app buttons that will take 30seconds to fail to launch netflix for you, or worse, offer to walk your wife through wi-fi setup. So you need another remote too. And since they are special your universal remote won't work out of the box, so you'll need to to button to button remapping to get that to work.
You know what would be even better than turning wi-fi off? Not having it at all...kinda of like what the OP asks for.
To answer the OP's question you can buy commercial TV's (like hotel rooms or restaurants buy for their active menus) and they have no smart features. They are widely available at commerical type stores. Lg also makes them up to 65" (we have some installed here). Big, dumb panel. Here is their site:
Agreed. I'd love to ditch the tuner. what a pain in the ass having it switch inputs to the tuner automatically if you dare touch certain remote buttons. "Guide" is what kills me, as I usually adjust volume on TV the hit guide. Whoops, have to adjust volume then hit CABLE, then hit guide...but now to clear the guide I have to Exit, exit, input, input, input then cable, then guide again.
I'd keep the speakers if I could, but would take no smart, no tuner, no speakers over smart+tuner+speakers.
The grandkids I don't have yet could be in their 70's by the time copyrights on my work expires. They could be kicked out of their old age home! You wouldn't kick a senior out to the street would you?! This is a necessary change to protect future generations, and I applaud USA for being so forward thinking!
"marty, your just not thinking 4th dimension-ally". We're not talking about day to day activities here, we are talking about periodic archiving.
First CD drives use different laser than BD (red vs blue). So there is a cost to making BD drive read/write Cd drives. I could see CD write and even CD read being dropped from future BD drives. Actually - can the PS4 read a CD? I don't think it can. So CD's can go away while BD stays.
To your second point I don't want a device I use once every 3 months (or once a year!) stuck in my laptop, thanks. My laptop didn't come with a tape backup either. And I really don't need one in my desktop either - it just gets in the way. I would much rather have a small portable BD burner that I can use to back up all my machines and then put away when I am done with it. And that's what I have.
Enterprise Tape isn't going away, and BD will also be a round for another 10+ years at least. And if BD-XL is used for 4k video probably even longer...
You copy your hard drive every 3 months, but didn't recopy your optical disks for 15 years. And to you, this is 'proof' that HDD are superior?! OK, got it.
I suggest reburn every 5 years on optical. You get a fresh disk and a chance to consolidate CD to DVD, DVD to BD etc.
Still Optical. Every 5 years reburn and consolidate. I just finished this years reburns to BDRE andDVDDL. As data grows, the # of actual physical disks seems to be pretty constant.I also rotated out the last of the CD-Rs this year so I only have DVD+Dl and BDRE in use now.
This may be my last time, as I am now using AWS Glacier for all our personal photos/vids and that accounts for about 100G of the total 150G in content. I also copy everything to a mechanical USB drive and store it at my office. I think AWS + USB will cover me
Our safe is in the basement, on a high shelf. Keep in mind fireproof safes need a disecant as you *will* get moisture in them. Or use zip lock baggies.
great, except that is not what electrical tape is for. You should have used wire nuts (or 'caps') to connect the two wires. Heat degrades electrical tape, and a coffer grinder draws enough current to heat the cable. And it is likely in the kitchen where it may be exposed to more heat anyway. Your friend should smile nicely, thank you, then throw it out and buy a new one...
A proper fix would be to replace the cord at the terminals on the grinder. This would require disassembly, and may not be possible depending on the design. Anything else is a hack. Like the article says "young people are a lost generation who can no longer fix gadgets"
Headlights aren't covered under cars warranty anyway. The EU and Canada/USA have a set of requirements for lighting. Your local cop is not equipped with a photmeter so cant perform the test at roadsise anyway (see FMVVS section 108, 564)
OP was sold a scary story at the dealer.
On topic: there used to be two headlight types in - round and square. Easy to replace. Pop out, pop in. Once that restriction was lifted, they got more complex and more difficult to change the bulb...
That can work. Making the leap from technology leader to business leader is not easy. It is very tempting to fall back on old, reliable, technology skills like you did. Hey, you were good at that stuff so it is easy. recruiters want you for your past, but you want a different future.
If you do an MBA you have to realize, and accept, that an MBA is not the end . It is the beginning of learning a whole new set of skills you don't have right now.
if MBA is out, I recommend PMP and ITIL. Both applicable to both technology and business side and will help you make the leap...
And companies don't get any of those services, nor do they benefit from any of those services. Services like IP property rights, employment laws, public education for workers are of no benefits to corporations. As none of that benefits the corporations, they should be free to ship all the profits to Ireland/no tax jurisdictions while continuing to do business in England! Right? Right, not left, right!
So they outsold iPad one quarter? And now they are the leader? What about the previous 15 quarters going back to the ipad launch? They have a LOOOOOONG way to go to replace Ipads.
Can't tell you how many times my coworkers, who have limited data but know I have unlimited data, have asked me while we're out and about if I could google something, or ask me to turn on my wifi hotspot.
Where do you live, 1990?

Man, when the first post fails basic math, the rest of the thread is pretty useless. Don't believe everything you read on the internet kids!

Fixed last year. 3 series coupe/conv are now called the 4 series. Lineup is now consistent as OP stated

They also drop in price slower than the mass market ones, so expect to pay more for the same size....

I'll stick with PNG.... because it's fully supported and... Oh, wait. Nevermind.
You sound like a horribly bad PM, the things you complained about are the PM's responsibility . I am sure no one was sad to see you go....
sheesh.

That's already illegal in most countries (any IFRS country). See Transfer Pricing and 'non arms length transactions' for the details....

2) diversification, look it up
