...or although it will never happen cause they don't want to spend the money, take this to court, and lose on purpose to get the low weakened. If possible take it as far as they can to get the thing thown out completely.
I don't think so, I would normaly vote republican. Bush is horrid, Kerry is worse, proped up only by his republican wife. Third party is the only vote I can stand to put in this election.
...and there is no way to write a program that would scan the display and make a high res SVG out of the fonts then create a font form the SVGs? I know little to nothing about graphics programming but with everything I have seen done with the gimp and script-fu it seems like there would be a way to import the fonts into inkscape (diffrent program I know) and generate SVGs that could then be hand verfied rather quickly and generate a font out of them?
They also don't package a plain vanilla kernel. from README.Debian in kernel-source page:
These modifications were also made:
* Fixed argument processing bug in init/main.c (Eric Delaunay). * Added initrd support for cramfs in init/do_mounts_rd.c. * Exported proc_get_inode in fs/proc/root.c. * Fixed pegasus_set_multicast lockup in drivers/usb/net/pegasus.c. .... ....To many to list almost 160 changes .... * Set MODVERDIR based on SUBDIRS in Makefile (Andreas Gruenbacher).
I don't think you understand the application of the word Unstable in this context. It doesn't mean that the kernel is likely or not to crash it means the the code is not as fluid.
what they are suppose to be (hasn't always worked this way)
Stable kernel -> Bug fixes, added drivers, code that doesn't touch a lot of files.
UnStable kernel -> driver model rewrites, schedular rewrites, MM rewrites, Patches that affect lots of other parts of the kernel, Interface changes, etc...
Stable just means that there wont be a lot of change between releases and if you are going to develop to something this would be a good idea.
Unstable means that going from one release to the next you may have complete systems ripped out form under you and replaced with a diffrent interface.
Take it a step further, invest the $20 if you can into a bulk amount of CDs burn knopix or morphix on them with some cool theme and pass them out to everyone that happens to be around. Perhaps just wonder around and boot systems with them and leave them that way. Report boot and hardware problems back to knopix and morphix developers as I'm sure you will have several old systems that are sketchy on the support.
What happens when our non democratically elected government, like the Bush administration, decides that what ever you are doing is illegal. Wearing a turban or some other selected "enemy of the state" now you are a criminal that never actually did anything wrong.
Giving power that is truly un-needed to someone, even for a temporary thing such as this and seeing them say "Now we have it we are not going to give it up" is one of the scariest things I have ever heard from a government.
There is a huge power grab in the US government that has been going on lately and it is really scary. This is just another of the things that makes it so. The Constitution had a set of checks and balances that were put into place. Unfortunately they were never really good at reducing power just of insuring one branch didn't get more power than the others. The current growth of the government and intrusion of what is going on scares the hell out of me. The two party system is failing horribly as either party going into office is just there to grab up as much power as they can, a Power arms race if you will, and it is not going to stop until something is done about it. right now it isn't even the vote to select the lesser of two evils, its the vote to select one of two equal evils.
Get government out of my home, keep them away from my health care and my retirement, I can take care of my own life. I don't want big brother out there to watch over me and every little thing that I do.
Government needs to be reduced to the size of only being what is needed and no more less than enough government is better than not enough.

I just want to cry reading your post, to think someone would actually belive this. "No worse than the ticket-cameras..." As if that is saying something good about them.
Yes, I say with my Tivo and MythTV systems DVD is nearly obsolete already. P2P built into MythTV and a bit more bandwidth we would have Video on Demand. even just P2P and we would have Video on Delayed Demand.
the abillity to have colabertation in artwork similar to wikipedia and open source. I see this would be most usefull in 3d applications. If there were a universal format for 3d that could be easily converted to-from other 3d formats. This way someone could create a 3d model of say, the statue of liberty, this could then be improved appon and details added by the general public and anytime someone wanted to have a statue of liberty in their 3d environment it would already be available with eventually nearly exacting details.
Is this something that is possible with the type of frame work? Would it be possible within the artistic communities?
I wish that menues would have an ability to launch a program from a catigory such as
menu->
CD Burners
->cdrecord (*)
->cdtoaster
->xcd
->abcde
and when you right-click on CD Burners it would select the (*)'ed menu item and if you hover over it for ###msecs it would then open the next menu. The (*) would move when you picked a diffrent one and there would always be a "prefered by the distrubution" default.

pH (lowercase ell) - The hour according to a 12-hour clock, using one or two digits (1 to 12).
OK that makes a lot of sense ?????WTF????? wouldn't that be uppercase pea and lowercase pea?
There are 10,000 of them at lockheed martin.

Their budget just got cut by some 200+million dollars.
how can you on one hand argue for a vanilla kernel and then also argue for loading a non-vanilla module?
They also don't package a plain vanilla kernel.

When I think of "hardened" I think of Gentoo and Slackware because they have gone out of their way to make their distributions as hard as possible.
because most distributions are trying to shoe horn a propritary model into open source technologies.
I would bet that less than 10% of the Slashdot visitors acually post.
"I've been using Firefox for a while now, and hate it..."
I'm just practicing to be Michael Moor. It's a fact that you said you hate Firefox.
