    GNOME flashback has nothing to do with cinnamon. It is part of standard GNOME3 and emulates the GNOME2 experience.

    The right file manager to use is Nemo anyway, which is gtk3-based too.

    If you'd actually install MATE on ubuntu, you'd see you lose access to the ubuntu all-in-one app indicator, which covers sound, battery, network, bluetooth etc. Alternative gtk2 applets are entirely missing from the ubuntu distribution, and even if you add them through ppa they're largely inferior to the ubuntu one, most notably in how they fit the theme.

    Because you get integration with the rest of Ubuntu and working applets.

    MATE is useless anyway, I don't see any point in forcing yourself to be stuck with old gtk.

    The Mint themes are ugly.
    Ubuntu, once you've removed unity and installed GNOME3 flashback instead, has a desktop that actually looks good.

    Ironically, I found installing Ubuntu very painful the last time I tried. It insisted on fetching stuff from the Internet even though I was behind a proxy it couldn't auto-configure and it took an extremely long time to load and configure the manual partitioning tool. Why I'd want partitions to be chosen automatically for me is beyond me.

    Meanwhile, bottled water tastes nice and people enjoy it, while people that only use tap water exclusively drink soda and other crap instead.

    Try drinking some actual good bottled water, like San Pellegrino.

    The regulations ask that the car emit less than a certain amount when tested, which is what VW satisfied.
    It's not the fault of VW if the regulators' test does not reflect reality.

    Sure, they gamed the system, but they had specs and they met them.

    I have always worked in software engineering, and most fellow workers I've met were rather introvertedand home-loving, though still happy to go have a beer after work.
    As for the women, there is a clear distinction between the few women in R&D, who tend to look like dorks or hippies, and the women in other departments, which are clearly more social and superficial, attaching much more importance to their appearance and fashion and discussing small talk unrelated to work all the time.

    It's no different than comparing the science and literature departments at school or university. People don't change that much when they grow up.

    I have 16GB and my computer frequently warns me about being out of memory. More than half of this RAM is consumed by Chrome, of course I have way more than 20 tabs open.
    Different strokes fof different folks, but the point is that web browsers nowadays require an absurd amount of RAM.

    Maybe if you had bottled water, you'd drink it instead of coke and other nasty things.
    Despite popular belief, tap water, even with a Britta, is nothing like bottled water which is actually nice to drink.

    Bottled water tastes way better than tap water. It's because people insisted on having kids drink tap water that they turned to soda instead... Give them actuallu good water and there is no need for that crap.
