If you live in Maine, you cannot theoretically have your car searched without a warrant or probable cause. Probably cause needs to be more than just "I want to" or "I think you did something", but in reality it can be many things and is hard (or just exhaustive) to prove wrongdoing on the part of the officer who really had no actual probable cause. Really they aren't supposed to be able to pull you over either without a reasonable suspicion, but that is hard (or just exhaustive) for the same reason.
I'm thinking that the browser is constantly guessing what I'm going to try to load and is preemptively loading additional content in the background just in case it's right. It may eventually get the right answer, but more often than not it's probably going to be wrong; I'm just wondering how much additional bandwidth this feature is going to use.
There's about to be way too many comments about how ESPN sucks and cable companies suck and everyone sucks for not giving me what I want. There's about to be not nearly enough comments about shutting up and voting with your dollars. Guess who enables this behavior? People who pay for it. Guess who has an option? People who pay for it. Guess who was never forced to pay for it? People who pay for it.
Aside from all that, Verizon still has to abide by the contracts. It's irrelevant how shitty the contract is for whom or what could be done which is better for consumers.
This alone is the reason why I still use classic maps. When you zoom in far enough, the lines and labels start to obscure the information int he satellite imagery and, frustratingly, google will not let you turn them off in new maps.
Plus, it's a super huge pain in the ass to draw maps in the new map making tool.
I've been pulled over a couple dozen times in my life, and only a few resulted in a citation. Seems like you're doing it wrong. Or your experience is not typical of law enforcement as a whole and you shouldn't try to portray it as such.
I have a toll transponder sticker attached to the inside of my windshield and it doesn't have a battery. It's powered by the transmission that the toll gantry sends to my device. So I'm pretty sure powered by RF is possible.
"One thing I've noticed as a passenger is that the most dangerous-feeling aspect of flying right now seems to be the winding security line itself."
Really? I despise the TSA and the burdensome screening process as much as the next person, and this is far from sympathising, but you honestly mean to say you felt endangered by the screening process? Of all the legitimate dangers you face in your daily life, and you're going to try to convince people that walking through a winding line and submitting to largely no-contact screening makes you fearful? And then you expect people to take you just as seriously after that?
The way they're designed or rather how long they're designed to last assumes some very specific conditions. The biggest problem is that people thrash their cars and dont even realize they're doing it because they assume that a $20k thing should be made to endure a war zone, which they certainly are not. The way I see some people drive makes me think they hate their car, but they probably just don't realize that full acceleration all the time, not slowing for bumps, heavy braking, etc are the biggest keys to reducing the usable lifespan of their car.
Technically, anything with a bearing can fail pretty much at any time, which includes anything with a pulley - Alternator, water pump, cams and crankshaft, etc. You probably have some kind of warning signs that an issue is coming, but people either don't have time or money to diagnose every little problem or they just assume cars are supposed to make odd squeaks and squeals every once in a while.
The movie never made any attempt to explain how they maintain an atmosphere. Here on Earth, the gravitation of effect of Earth's mass does that for us. On Elysium, there is simulated gravity due to centripetal force, but that would only effect masses that are bound do it. Since the atmosphere floats above it, it would drift away and potentially escape through the open structure.
Apart from that, if they can create such a structure out in space that is a perfect habitable environment, it seems to me they should be able to create the same habitable environment on Earth for much greater cost. Not having to transport materials to space, not having to spend many dollars on researching ways around problems that don't exist here on Earth. You could certainly argue that the wealthy elite may want to simply distance themselves from the busted Earth as much as possible with the intent of making it difficult for the dregs to migrated to their utopia, but it seems like the idea of Earth being so wrecked that they HAD to go into space doesn't really line up.
Weren't some companies found to be using Chinese clones of Cisco hardware and things which contained compromised chips and such? I remember reading about seizures of this hardware some time ago.
What exactly is a rogue beer fridge? To me that kinda implies malicious behavior, which seems to indicate that we're personifying an inanimate object. I get that it's cool that they made a robot to detect sources of interference on their network, but it's not a freaking crime fighter exacting justice upon an unscrupulous sentient refrigeration device.
I don't see this option on Verizon's site at all. They're still pushing 45/line/mo for each of four lines.. $180/mo is very different to $90/mo.

All they need is your phone number and access to the SS7 system.
All the jobs I've had involve doing work.
Stole my post. "Synergies"? Hopefully slashdot is not fucked.
Says the guy who apparently doesn't realize he can not pay for something he doesn't want.

Oregon and Washington are so green they won't accept recyclable plastic because it's actually too hard to recycle?

Not wrong - "different".
"for much greater cost"
Gahhh, meant to say much lesser cost.

Do damages include multiple downloads of the same song? If so, It could be into the thousands of songs.

Relevant "Fact" Bot, indeed.

A one without an actual story is scarcely a one at all.
Yeah, that did sound a bit assholish. Be that as it may, a kickstarted game effort isn't going to magically reverse these issues.
With two months in between strips for a web comic, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a game.
