  1. a flashback to the 90's on Banned Words List Carries Its First Emoticon · · Score: 0, Interesting

Does anyone else remember when their teacher used to make the comment "'Ain't' is not a word... it isn't in the dictionary." Then finally someone looked it up and it WAS in the dictionary? People define the language, the language doesn't define the people. Those grumpy folks publishing this stuff need to remember that.

If they really wanted to preserve English, they'd still be using "thou" and whatnot. Don't get me started on why the Bible is usually still in Old English... Most people don't even realize that it's already a badly translated mix of Aramaic and such. Thankfully, it's been retranslated finally into the "new international version".

Oh great, now I'm ranting. I should get university backing and publish an official list of pet peeves too.

So does this mean Obama just became a target for Sarah Conner and company? Whose side is Arnold going to be on this time?

  3. what about acid3 test? on Microsoft Rushes Internet Explorer Patch · · Score: 0

Too bad the new Firefox update still gets 71 on the acid3 test. I was all excited to see if it went up with the latest patch. :(

  4. Re:USA network in the US is up to 50% commercials on Canadians Miss Out On Doctor Who Season Finale · · Score: 0

I'm with you on this one. Have you ever pulled out an old recording, and there was a single commercial break mid-show? There was actually a sequence saying "We're going to commercials now, pause your VCR." Robotech had these, usually with a drainpipe sounding alien voice too :) I bet the extra commercial breaks are causing ADD in kids. If the darn show would stay on for more than 4 minutes, maybe they could focus on it!

  5. Another week... on Second Google Android Phone Revealed · · Score: 0

another android phone headline. Seriously, are they sponsoring this website? Why can't we hear about androids like Gigilo Jane? You know, she recently got #34 in "Top 50 Hottest Sci-fi Girls" by UGO.

That'd be easier to deal with. Plus all the scientists on the project could have the best Thanksgiving ever.

  7. oh noes on Square Enix Announces Supreme Commander 2 · · Score: 3, Funny

Square Enix? an RTS game? HA! Hahaha! I can see it now, all the units with have spiky hair, and all the engineer units will be named Cid.

  8. I found the best game, but... on Non-Violent, Cooperative Games? · · Score: 0

of course it was cancelled. There was a MMO game that came out a couple years ago that I was really excited about. It was called Seed, and it was about a colony (space) ship that crashed on the wrong planet. The missions in the game were colonizing the planet and repairing the systems on the ship. I mention this because there was talk at one point of resurrecting this game. Here is the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seed_(computer_game)

  9. Re:For those who want to join any SecuROM lawsuit on Two New Class-Action Suits Against EA Over DRM · · Score: 0

Thanks for pointing out there is a trial for the other titles too. I've had Windows Explorer crashing every hour since installing Mass Effect. Uninstalling didn't help (which lost me an activation, also). Then I finally managed to find a SecuROM shell extension and disable it using ShellExView. I've never had a game cause widespread system failure before. Totally unacceptable. No more EA titles for this guy.

  10. convenient problem on Bug In Android Passes Keystrokes To Root Shell · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Hmm, what do you know... another obvious quirk to the Android that gets it on the frontpage of slashdot. I'm beginning to suspect it could be intentional for free advertising at this point. But then, who am I to question OS compilation? I couldn't even get Gentoo to run.
