  1. Wreckless spending = Economy Boost on Cashless Society · · Score: 1

Isn't that a debit card? There's just no signature. If it's just a card, there will be tons of spending. I did an experiment in a sociology class I took and basically people do not pay attention to what they spend with cards as much as with cash. Cash is something tangible and when you see it disappearing, you refrain from spending more. That means a lot more spending will be going on for people. Yay for the economy.

  2. Great way to drive Internet stores out of business on California Considering More Internet Taxes · · Score: 5, Interesting

I still see the Internet retail stores as a flawed design. Yes, buyers should be paying taxes based on where the product ends up, like any other company that ships products. Though, even without taxes, why would a consumer pay $10 shipping for something he can get a 10-mile drive away? I fail to see how Internet retail really makes it, except in a few rare cases where products are rare.

Perhaps a solution to feeding starving nations gone wrong?

  4. Paying for Poor Quality on Instant Concert CDs? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Why would anyone want a CD of a live concert with music and vocals that are really done live. Almost every "live album" you can buy in stores has been redone. Basically, you would get inferior quality music.

Plus lots of bands record with extra instruments that they don't use when they play live. Those are often added in when they make the "live album" for sale.

  5. Out of state companies? on Do-Not-Email Registries? · · Score: 1

How does this work, when there seems to be no physical boundaries for Internet companies? That would mean that all the companies that deliver bulk e-mail would move out of the state. When a new state creates laws that are expensive, it's time to move out. It's like any other company. Once it's too expensive to do in the states, they'll move it overseas.

Plus, isn't most of the spam received forged anyway? How is a state going to stop people from sending through open relays?

  6. Call it... on Suggestions for Unique Names for a Server Room? · · Score: 2, Insightful

    The Meat Locker.

I don't know about you, but every server room I've been in has been freezing. Whenever I enter a server room for extended periods of time, I make sure I have a coat.
