    Main point:

    From the Article:
    The Windows Maps app contains many HERE elements since Microsoft has developed it using the HERE Platform and with assets they received from HERE in 2014.

    You may not use Here Maps directly, nor know what it is, but your experience with Windows Maps is dependent of the work that Here have done, which explains how the Microsoft's built in app can be good enough.

    Unless Microsoft comes with a deal with Here Maps, most consumers will shun Windows Phone.The major option available seems to be Bing Maps; is that good enough?

  5. On the other hard, on the Gobi Desert you get the best of both worlds (as long you don't want to live there). It's a cold desert, so you get low temperatures and low humidity.

    Uber is losing US$ 1 billion a year. They offer a cheaper service, while losing money, which caracterizes dumping. When the China's miniter calls that 'subsidizing', I think it's a euphemism.

    I don't think so. AIX(r) is registered trade mark of IBM; I wonder how can Microsoft use that name.

  13. Hell, people who kill themselves in Japan actually have the courtesy to take their shoes off before jumping in front of a train so others will know it's intentional and not an accident. Thinking of others until the end.

    People in the US are more likely to have the courtesy of not suiciding at all.

    The public gave privacy long ago to Facebook and will never wake up. Most people just think that "10" is better than "7", that Windows must be the best OS or no many people would not be using it. There are even ones that think that Ubuntu is the best, or easiest, Linux just because it is the most popular.

    It's not just about ranting about bad grammar. I had the reread the sentence to understand. What if I was not so advanced in reading English? Slashdot editors should take care of grammar and spelling to make this site more friendly to non-native speakers of English.

    I wish our crackers were more patriotic. Last week, we learned about some malware that fails to work in computers located in Russia; why can't our malware coders create pieces of malware that *fail* when they find a JRE?

    I must have not taken enough attention when or the textbooks I had did not make it clear that they treated the three Americas as subcontinents that form America. It reads so in the Portuguese language Wikipedia article on Central America: https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/América_Central.
