    And some of those mobile phones end up in toilets .. and the user says the phone stopped working and possibly has "water damage", while not mentioning that whole toilet incident...

    Yep, this has been true of every web service I've been involved with, all the way back to the BBS days. 90% of users are consumers and only about 10% actually contribute anything. Twitters numbers look pretty good, actually.

    Sure you can teach a coal miner to code. For example:

    A variable is like a bucket. A bucket that can hold different types of coal. You can glue several buckets together to hold several pieces of coal, this is called an array of buckets. Just remember the first bucket is called bucket number zero.

    Of course not all coal miners will want to be coders,
      but why can't you teach a coal miner to code?

    I don't know why, but as I read that, I heard it in my head as a country song. You may have a hidden talent!

    Someone invited me to use it a few months ago. A quick google search turned up some horror stories about security problems and privacy issues (some people reported that it downloads and spams your phone's entire contact list), so I took a pass on downloading it.

    Probably right up Facebook's alley, though.. :)

    I've never bought an Apple product (and never will), but for pretty much anything else I might want that has a future release date I can pre-order it and get it on day of release. Do Apple not do this?

    They do, but pre-ordering doesn't get you an article on Slashdot or make you a hero amongst your friends.

    Hmm, I wonder if the brick manufacturer is changing the specs of their bricks every week. Of course brick v8.12 is not compatible with brick v7, and currently there is no compatible mortar for 8 series bricks.

    You don't give them your PIN, you give them the 3 numbers on the back of the card. You only need to have your chip read and PIN entered when using the card at a physical store.

    Agree on all points. A cheap Wordpress ripoff is in no way an improvement. In a world of a million look-alike websites, why put yourself in that group?

    I don't get it. Same thing here in Canada, people complain they don't see the same ads as shown in the US. I hate commercials, I change the channel or pick up my phone when the commercials come on. It blows my mind that people get excited about them.
