The original post questions is the students are being hypocritical by making these claims. I think the answer is yes and no. Yes they most likely have downloaded songs and such. For one thats not proven so legally that has no bearing on the case. However more importantly if the law wont protect these students IP then what right does the law have to say they have to respect others IP? Just food for thought of me playing the devils advocate.
Im pretty sure there are 2 causes for this discoloration. One being natural friction which is unavoidable unless you elevate your palms everytime you type. The reason it actually turns yellow is due mostly to bacteria that normally is on the human body, more so on people who sweat alot. My guess is that the bacteria is able to soak into the paint and/or the surface below the paint after its worn off. This bacteria is the same reason old clothes turn yellow. Its not dirt but residue left by bacteria. My reasoning could be totaly wrong but I thought I'd offer my $.02 up.
First of all let me say I am not biased towards Apple of Microsoft. They both have their uses.
There are three major interlinked problems with running modern games on a OSX.
1. The driver support from both major 3D chipset makers(ATI and nVidia) is little to none. nVidia has no official MacOSX drivers available for download. ATI has MacOS drivers but they only support older chipsets(X800 at posting). In addition to that ATI's drivers require special "Mac" versions of the card AND they are only for PPC so no OSx86 support yet. I cant say for sure but I would assume cards from both companies would work in an OSx86 system to a limited extent for 3D Acceleration with some generic OGL driver.
2. OSX does not have DirectX. Both ATI and nVidia have spent years and years focusing their products on DirectX performance. While OGL performance has gone up some of the technologies having to do with some of the more modern rendering techniques. In addition with upcoming the upcoming DirectX 10 which is supposed to be a major change to the way DX works(or so they say) nVidia and ATI are both busy upgrading their code for use in the next generation of video games. Full acceleration on both OSX will never happen unless either a new cross-platform API is released or MS decides to "port" DX to OSX which would seem unlikely.
3. XBox/XBox360 both use DirectX(variant) AND are x86 based. As such this makes simultaneous development of games for both Windows and Xbox much easier which can end up in selling more units.
...fall into the same paradigm as the old saying "too many cooks".
If you develop a large scale game in an open source enviorment you run into the problem of too many people having too many conflicting ideas. This would lead to either an overly complex game or a game with an infinite development time(see DNF and TF2).
Id hope that SE doesnt drop Bluetooth from its cellphone lines. This would be a major blow to the entire bluetooth market.
I used to use a T68i with Jabra BT200 and fell in love with bluetooth from that moment on. I now use a Moto V600 and the Jabra BT250.
Recently even bigger players have also started to adopt the Bluetooth technology such as Dell and Toyota. Many dell laptops come with bluetooth as a option. In the new 2005 Toyota Prius one of the possible options is to have bluetooth for cell phone integration. Since a family member of mine owns one I was able to try it first hand and I have to say the functionality and level of integration is phenomenal.
Yes the alienware is expensive. But this paticular model, the ALX is watercooled. The advantage of watercooling is that its more efficent and also practically silent. But costs significantly more than a traditional HSF combo.
I happen to work for a large magnetic media maker. I can tell you that the largest platter out there, currently available in retail drives, for any company is 100gb and only Seagate has 100gb/platter. WD, Maxtor, and Hitachi/IBM all use 80gb platters.
As people have stated before usually the entire platter is not used. When you use less % of the platter you get slighly better performance because of the rotational velocity closer to the middle of the disc.
Another lesser known fact is that if you were somehow able to get a hold of heads and the needed hardware you could technically double the capacity of more harddrives because the platters inside are usually Double Sided, only about 20% of the platters the company i work for are single sided. That being said the second side is not always processed.

According to dictionary.com... the correct spelling is Paralyzed.
