One thing I learned about programming is never be afraid to trash everything and start from scratch again. Especially at the 11th hour. Heck some of the more popular web applications I've built have been finsihed hours before I got on a plane and left to speak about them. MaKing mistakes while in development isn't something to worry about. It's not realizing that mistakes have been made and shipping a product to the market.
As for the "stressed" feeling... do what I and most of my IT department do. Research... search the web for hours at a time looking for bits of code... on sites like Slashdot or Freshmeat.:)
I'm listening to the audio broadcast of CNBC's market report on the way home tonight and they started talking about napster's stay of execution... this dumb ass Stock & Blond's bimbo comes on and then gives an update of how the MP3 related stocks are doing today and I quote "MP3.com, who's technology is behind Napster was unchanged." Please shoot me now.
Well I've been to MP3.com and the one problem I have with it is that all MP3 players on the market do not allow me to turn up the talent. 99% of the MP3's on that site are absolute shite. The only channels I ever check are the Eletronic Experimental and the Bizzard space jazz. However, as a whole I am a high brow music dick with very exacting tastes. In other words I'm a big critic. Since I run my own Indie label I get a deluge of terrible demos on a daily basis... going to MP3.com to me is working over time.
Will popular culture always mean crap like Britney Spears, N-Sync, & Backstreetboys? Popular != good.
One thing that I found about Naptser is it really REALLY sucked if you were looking for anything Indie or on a minor label. Unfortunally after checking out GNUtella & Freenet I don't see things getting any better for indies.
Maybe if someone policed napster and kept the major label copyright crap off it would still be open. But who am I to say? I put up free MP3's of my (C) artists. If I didn't people wouldn't buy.
but what does it do if I'm ONLINE ALL THE TIME? Plus I don't own a TV! I realized how worthless commercial TV is and got rid of it. So call me if you want ABC you'll only be wasting your own money. Typical for a 2nd rate media whore
and here's our crappy Powerpoint display... Ick! I'm not sure if I should run out and install the Brownish redline with triangle or the Blueish grey line with diamond! Someone tell me which is best? Man whats with the techie Yuropieons and their lack of color matching skills? Would someone please write an open source version of the RBG color spectrum so the rest of the nonCOLORBLIND WORLD could read stuff like this!
What an absolute waste of frigging time! Why not develope these cards to do something really usefull like the distributed.net project or rendering quake figures or embedded web servers... SETI? PLEASE!
The only movies that the MPAA protects are the typicall Hollywood crap ones. Please! I could careless if these movies make it not. What does the MPAA provide independent film? Nothing. I've seen more awesome indie movies and shorts that I can count and now I'm activly watching indie pix on the web. Do they get the support that the MPAA offers? Hell no! Being independent means doing it your own way and not answering to a group of fat cats sitting around with marketing budgets that are hemoring money. Movies for the people by the people...

Hey, but if your happy being feed the same story line with the same actors and the same "explosions" go right ahead and see Matrix 2 when it comes out. Enjoy Star Wars Episoid Two "Electric JarJar Boogaloo." I won't be in line with you. An I sure as sh*t won't be wasting my precious bandwidth downloading DivX copies off the web.

Ok... so I goto this site and look for chicken run and it comes up 3 times in VIVO format? Yeah and so why not go after the sites that have it up or am I totally missing something here? THis looks like another version of kill the messenger. I hope they rot in hell with the RIAA.
It's almost the norm in any B2B publication to have a manufacturer pay an editoral staff somewhere to write some copy on some product. Hell pick up any copy of Inter@ctive or InternetWeed. Everything in there is either irrelevant or broken but you never see a harsh word about a product.

That's as gay as straight pretzles. Whats better and I know of several UNKNOWN bands that are doing this right now, is to MP3 up songs, name them stuff like Metallica-Master-Live-90-toronton.mp3 and then put them up on Napster. A friend of mine who's got a band which sounds like TOOL put up 10 songs and named them after that Perfect Circle band (the band with the guy from tool) he said that his cable modem came to a crawl for 2 days, and about 4000 people had downloaded one or more of the songs. He never got any flack from it either... so I'm thinking there's 4000 people out there listening to his stuff and thinking it's the guy from Tool. What tools..
Check Steinberg.com or any one of the Audio DSP places. They've got plugins for a variety of different recording progarm which strip out "noise"
Personally I still think Corporate Rock Sucks (including SST)

Being a 31 Netslave the thing I keep telling myself is that I must learn more things and stay in an environment which is optimal to my survival. Sure maybe you coders in the valley or NYC face the peril of becoming Solient Green or going on a weekend trip with Logan's Run... but last time I checked the midwest is still brain dead when it comes to techies. I could if I wanted to jump ship night not at 11:36am and find another job in my field within an hour!
The whole encryption scheme which numbers stations use is uncrackable. Known as a "One time pad" the scheme can only be used once, otherwise, both parties risk the message being intercepted by a thrid hostile party. It's a super simple encryption method. I write out the alphabet several times and then randomanly write down numbers [0..9][0..9][0..9] next to the letters and make 1 copy of this sheet and give it to my agents. Then when I need to communicate with them I encode my message using these numbers.
If this new truely does have a record feature this will be an amazing new tool! Gone are the days of multi-tape college lectures, business speaches, dictation tapes, and concert bootlegs. Now if the quality is there....
But weren't we told that we'd have flying cars by the year 2000? Where is my flying car!?!?
... ever since that /. article with those terrible graphics I've been dying to try out BSD. Not that Pat, Ralph or Jessie have anything to do with it.

There would be a shortage of water if the profit mongers of the world could figuer out how to cause world droughts.
