I agree with you. I was an Nvidia fanboi until I built my current system 6 months ago and it was because of the cost. I built a X4 940 system with a 4870X2 for about $600 less. I didnt have to replace my RAM and I didnt have to replace my motherboard. I have had 0 problems with my system. My coworker who had to have Nvidia has had nothing but problems with it. ATI has really come around with the help of AMD.
I disagree. For one you dont get quality Journalism anymore. I worked for a Newspaper run by Gannett for 3 years and most of the reporters didnt go out and get stories they simply copied and pasted portions of AP stories. He says that it costs money and wants to return the old margins. Do you know what those old margins where? they were anywhere from 20-40%. The money flowed in and they spent it. And they continued to spend it even when the margins went down. We used to turn over 75 Mac's a year because corporate would give us basically a unlimited Mac(Macintosh) capital budget. Ever watch fox news when they go to that giant Microsoft surface controlled computer? How much do you think that cost? Did they really need it? Does it help in the delivery of the news, does it create good journalism? NO its simply a shiny new toy that is a complete waste of money and hurts there margins. So now he wants to charge for it. Dont get me wrong I think that you are right about the free model not working, but I dont know what the answer is. I know that when I come across a website that charges for the news I just skip it. Shoot half the time if they even make me register I will skip it unless its something that is just stellar. I just think its a pipe dream to think that you are going to get back to those margins. Alot of papers are still making about 9-12% margins, which in business is really good. Hell the Oil companies only make about 8%.
Everyone who is claiming that linux should be used and its those stupid MS users that cause this are missing the point and have never spent one second working in a corporate IT enviroment. The fact is that every single security measure that is put in place is met with overwhelming opposition by the user base as well as the executives. A spam filter is looked at as the unholy antichrist because it blocks.00001% of legitimate emails. I have worked corporated IT for years and have constantly had to fight for just the basic's in security. IT is not given the authority to do its job. I am sure there is some IT guy that worked for the county that is now unemployed because he didnt stop it, even though he has been banging his head againest the wall to get security measures put in place.
I for one am tired of hearing that the answer is Linux. Sh*& I cant even upgrade to Office 2007 without getting hundreds of phone calls from users that cant find the print button. You want me to switch them to linux? That is just comical. Rather than constantly blaming the victim we need to get tough on the criminals. If somone is mugged you dont tell them that they should not have walked down the street. You go after the guys that mugged them. You dont tell the convienence store owner that he was robbed because he was open and should not let people enter the store. This stops when we get tough on the criminals and the governments that allow them operate free from risk. How long do you think it would take these countries to stop this if we cut off all trade and aid to them? The fact is that cybercrime is not looked at as real crime. Until we start caring more about it and electing people who understand the risks it wont matter what system is in place, it will be exploited.
I love your response man. Its not that they are stupid, its that they are stupid and demanding and demeaning to you. They dont know what the hell they are talking about and yet they tell you how to do your job.
Its even better when the CEO wants to know why he cant have enterprise admin privledges. Try explaining that one!
Yep I too was going to buy this game until reading this. I refuse to play this stupid DRM game. there are far too many good games out to worry about one game. Kudos to you EA.... way to alienate your fans and not listen to the community. Everyone that changed their minds due to DRM BS needs to email or call them.
about there rights. There is no grey area here. These people are well known and involved in illiceit activity that preys on the ignorant. Did you see the story about the women that gave 400,000 dollars? Yes she is stupid, but just because your stupid doesnt give anyone the right to take advantage of you. It amazes me that we always get into this so called grey area. The fact of the matter is that most spam comes from 10 well known sources. Like I said before. Firing Squad. I will happily pull the trigger and sleep very soundly after doing so.
I dont care about spammers "rights". We should send in black ops and end this spam BS permanently. Anyone one who has spent hours weeks and days working in IT to try and stop spam to an upper level executive has felt my pain. IT departments spend billions of dollars and countless hours trying to stop this. It has no legitimate business use it simply prays on ignorance and hurts computing for all. Spam is the reason that more people do not adopt high speed internet and computers more readily.
Shoot all spammers in the head on site, thats how we should handle it.

You are in a dark place.
