  1. No fun in europe on StarCraft II Closed Beta Begins · · Score: 0

And as usual we are lagging behind in europe. I wonder why it's so hard to have releases in europe and the US at the same time. That doesn't just go for the games but movies and series aswell.

  2. Religion = beeing out of the mind on Brain Surgery Linked To Sensation of Spirituality · · Score: 0, Redundant

So is this the chanse we atheists have been waiting for to get to say religious people are literally out of their minds ?

  3. everything has its pros and cons on Your Opinion Counts At CNN — But Should It? · · Score: 1

"If I'm watching CNN from TV, I'm looking for intelligent, fact-checked news and opinions from professionals, not from some mommy who is twittering without understanding any of the issues behind specific things."

The new age brings with it new trolls.

Except from that - it's not just in the US where news media has seen its best but also in scandinavia ... a good example is a website where you could creat a transfer contract for a soccer player. Several magazines in sweden fell right into that trap and published that a famous player had signed a contract with a club in europe. No one checks facts anymore it seems.

When it comes to user comments on stories it's not always good I do agree on that but it acts as a forum for debate on certain subjects which can be good. Or at least in these cases as long as you need to be a registerd user. Too many times there is no name to connect with the opinions which can cause negative effects in several ways. A forum at my school sufferd from anon usage since there was a hot debate over an election and it got a bit out of hand which led to the debate getting mentioned in several news media which didn't fact check and that in turn lead to a blow towards our schools reputation (one of the leading schools in the country in its area)

So to sum it up, maybe not all stories need to have comments avaliable. That and the news agencies do need to catch up on their fact checking.

  4. Battlefield on No Dedicated Servers For CoD: Modern Warfare 2 · · Score: 2, Funny

For the sake of the further growth of the battlefield community i surely hope they don't introduce a serverbrowser nor dedicated servers :) That'd give DICE such an advantage on the PC.

  5. Student Loan in Finland on Student Loan Interest Rankles College Grads · · Score: 1

I have a government backed student loan... but it's following the 3-month Euribor index. All our student loans follow some index here and the only difference is how much extra rate the bank charges except from the euribor. In my case it's ½ a percent extra my bank takes. So a student loan of 8% is rediculus in my opinion.

  6. WURM Online on Speaking With the Designer of an Indie MMO Project · · Score: 1

Reading the article i get the impression that this would be something new, the ability of making everything yourself from scratch. Note that this is my impression. Well it's not very new.

As stated by Marc_Hawke (130338) there's also A Tale in the Desert, haven't tried that myself though. But i've tried Wurm online which is a java based MMORPG where you can make everything yourself from scratch and manipulate the enviroment as you go. This for me got very tireing after some time chopping down trees and flattening the ground to make a road. And my tools got dull after some time aswell. Then without having neither a bunch of new tools nor a blacksmith anywhere close i was was up *****creek without a paddle.

I sincerely hope that this guy will be able to pull this off better than the guys in the WURM team. The idea is good buy very hard to execute while getting people to stay and play the game.

  7. Friends are sysadmins on IT Job Without a Degree? · · Score: 1

Yes it is very much possible to achieve something like that. My friends only have degrees from tradeschools (in finland at highschool level) (no MBA or BS) One is head-admin of a shipping company, another is his closest helper. Another of my friends have been offerd a job at a global shipping company admin. Then there are a few who are sysadmins in municipalities and on federal level here. None of them have a higher education degree.
